Article in english:

Charlie Watts meets DR Big Band at Concert Hall. October 23rd, 2010 20:00 pm.

Saturday 23rd October DR Big Band gets a visit by Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, who has had a long and warm connection with jazz and big band music.

The concert will primarly offer Charlie Watts' own music, which he has played over the past 25 years, where he has had jazz as his great passion. His latest solo album was released in 2004 and was called Watts at the Scott's. It was recorded by his band: Charlie Watts Tentet at the famous jazz club in London, Ronnie Scott's.

DR Big band's own trumpet, Gerard Presencer, who was present at this consert, has written a song called Faction, which was inspired by Stone's song Satisfaction. Another song on the program for the concert is Elvin Suite, which is Watts' tribute to the legendary jazz drummer Elvin Jones.
Finally, there will be a few goodies for fans of his "other band"!

Charlie Watts also brings his permanent bassist Dave Green, who has worked closely with him all these years.

Saw Charlie and the DR Big Band yesterday. It was a very nice concert and Charlie looked happy and healthy all smiling and hugging his fellow bandmates after the show. It seems concert was a one time show. Trumpeter Gerard Presencer of the Big Band had played with Charlie before and convinced him to come to Copenhagen for this one off show. They played different jazz-standards, and songs from The Jim Keltner/Charlie Watts Project and of course they did jazz versions of stones songs like Paint it black, You cant always... and Satisfaction.

Here's a review in danish:
