I've heard prez Pinera is a d!ckhead, a tool who constantly looks after media attention (like Berlusconi or Sarkozy). He seems HE created this media frenzy around the mine accident to boost his ego and his popularity...

He is a very succesful billionaire. One of the largest stock holders of the great
LAN Airline. Don't know about the ego thing...it may be true...but he's doing a great job as a president and is very popular in his own country...the best judgment usually comes from your own people and he seems to be fine in Chile.

He doesn't have to create a media frenzy. It's a great story. No miners have ever been trapped this long and been rescued. Media attention or not. It looks like they are doing everything righht. Going nice and slow and making sure these guys get out safe.

Of course not, just don't boast about it. It's a borderless, humanitarian effort.

Who's bragging? The way I understand it,these guys who helped are trying to put together a group of people and equipment to respond to these kind of emergencies in the future. Beside I read the article and didn't see any bragging. It's an american news network's website talking about the work american's did to help.

This thing has many angles. The engeeniering companies that builded the drill,
capsule, etc are getting a tremendous amount of exposure that will certainly
turn the effort into business in the near future. Wrong? Not really. Humanitarian and Business going hand on hand. Which comes first...dont care.

The President Piñera will climb in every popularity poll.

The miners will recive al kinds of deals, and that code of silence they
made will most likely be broken for money to be made.

The mining safety laws could change for the better, and so on...

who's to judge wrong or right...the guys are back home. Hope their mental
health does not ruin some of those lifes after such a traumatic experience.

The US effort in this rescue is commendable, its not about bragging, but about getting things done with a "borderless" menatlity.
It's a important news story, but the talking heads on Fox (don't ask me why)last night were starting to grate.
In between lifts, one of the commentators asked the residents psychologist about the possible effect of being confined to that little capsule. \
WTF! They were confined nearly a mile underground in the dark for 60 days!
The beauty of a 24-hour news cycle.

Very happy for Chile, it is a great country with beautiful nature and very nice people.....I hope this event can be the model for future mine rescues around the globe...I think a lot more than 33 lives were saved when you factor what they learned from this.

Lets hope they get well taken care of for their health needs, and some very good paid time off to allow them to make choices about their future.....if I was a single guy, I would go to the Coffee with Legs Cafes in Santiago...a very interesting way to drink coffee in the middle of the day...this ain't Starbucks.

If I were one of the folks that got trapped, I'd want three things right away: 1) a bath, 2) some booty, and 3) a beer (or some other adult beverage of my choosing).

Chile is doing great things. Their economic model has proven very succesful
as they have the fatest growing economy in Latam.
Their extremely succesful rescue of the miners got at one point more than a billion
viewers world wide. I assume the world can now look up to this country and it's people and use them as a model of unity and efficiency. They will probably capitalized on more interantional investments to boost their economy even more,
and with that, quality of life.

I wished my country got it's sh_t together.

>>I've heard prez Pinera is a d!ckhead, a tool who constantly looks after media attention
I heard on the French news that Mr Piñera wanted to be on the "spot light"
No French media called him a " Dickhead" ,as far as I know .

<<He seems HE created this media frenzy around the mine accident to boost his ego and his popularity<<
I heard that he used the accident to boost his popularity .
He "created "nothing .

dcba,I hope that when you wrote "Pinera is a dickhead" ( comme tu l'as orthographié )instead of " Piñera" wasn't a mean /poor pun .

Because ,apart from you ,me & a few French speakers, who ,do you think ,can get it ?
