OT Anyone try the famous Bose Wave Radio for Stones?
Date: November 29, 2011 17:47

Is Boise really that good or should one just get a higher wattage HD boom box?

I need a boom box for Stones in my living room, that's all.

They make those things in Idaho ?

BTW, the Stones were good in Boise.
Second performance after Mick's father died.

I have one in my parlor. I think they are great for classical music but not so good for rock. The bass just isn't there. A good boom box might be better.

I have one too, it's Ok but nothing to write home about. They look nicer than a boom box though.

Agreed. I have 2...both were gifts. Nothing great.I'd never buy one.

Maybe good for the over 80 crowd that they generally advertise to.

Bose has a great marketing department. Their speakers are generally considered mediocre. But if you like it, go for it.

If you can afford it, Bang & Olufsen.

Bose is all bass, over-advertised, over-subscribed, and over here.

You just need to get a Sunday supplement to chronicle to ubiquity of Bose: Culture section of The Sunday Times, The Sunday Times Magazine, You magazine for the Mail On Sunday: the Observer magazine. Saturation of such a product reeks of desperation.

My Exwife bought one ,for Me apparently,I always prefered proper speakers and wasn't that impressed with it,she never liked Hi Fi systems and I think it apealed to her because it looked nice and didn't clutter up the room with wires and speakers.
Needless to say when she f##ked off she took it with her.
A few years later I had the opertunity to buy a Creative clone of it at about 3rd the price, still got it in bedroom and it is just as good and gets a fair amount of useage.

BOSE products are the epitome of over-heateded marketing succeeding in selling a commonplace item.

You can do it two ways in the hi-fi business:

A) Pour your investment into creating a superior product or

cool smiley Pour your investment into creating the perception that a mediocre product is superior.

Bose spends a higher % of $$ on marketing than any other company out there.

That doesn't mean that it's poor equipment. But a bit overhyped probably.

There's probably better, and cheaper (since you're not paying as much for marketing), products out there.

Bose is great for big sound from small systems and easy hookups if you want to spend the money. Although you can get by with less expensive units if you do your research. Just make sure if you decide to go with a Bose that you get a unit with the very latest technology (hdmi, fiber optic, etc.).

Bose's noise cancelling headphones are fantastic. But I agree, a lot of their products are overpriced and hyped.
I have a Harmon Kardon iPod jambox that is wonderful. Also Altec Lansing makes some great iPod speakers. High quality with good prices.
