...all I can say (besides THANKS!) after listening to this is: The Stones should have shelved the Love You Live album and released Live at El Mocambo! Hot as hell.

Isn't this shot from later, '78 or so? Isn't that the 'natty dread' shirt Ron Wood also wore in late '78?

>> Isn't this shot from later, '78 or so? Isn't that the 'natty dread' shirt Ron Wood also wore in late '78? <<

those shots where Ronnie's got the same shirt on are from 1977 - he wore it to the LYL promo party in September.
and Keith's wearing it in some shots Ken Regan took of him in 1977 standing in a field at the house he was renting in New York State -
but [peering hard] the photo magee mineko posted looks more like a studio than a home ... or does it?

anyway until further notice i'm keeping it filed under "probably 1977"

I love the bass playing of Bill on Dance Little Sister (Mocambo version). It is just powerful, tremendous, terryfic. I recommed listening this song with your headphones. "Pope declares: Bill Wyman is God".

Absolutely. It's such a pity that Darryl is not capable of pulling off such a great groove. That's why modern Stones sound somewhat "stiff" live. Bill was such a great ingredient to the Stones sound, but people obviously focus their attention on Jagger and the guitar players.

Jimmy Page once commented that all was forgiven with Keith after hearing his playing on Dance lil Sister @ the El Mocambo. While it is real good, not hearing anything over the top.

He probably heard Taylor's solo and assumed Keith was playing it...

I think I read that in Hit Parader in '74 or early '75...but he was talking about the studio version.

What was forgiven by Page?

If I recall well, Page once says that Keith wasn't that so good on guitar...he change his statement after hearin' DLS from the Mo.

If I recall well....or if I recall "better".....it was the other way around. Keith had said something negative about Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin in the press. And when an interviewer confronted Jimmy Page with this Keith-quote later; Jimmy said that he'd "forgive Keith for anything, just for that solo he did at El Mocambo 77"

WOW! This thread ROCKS! Whoo Hoo! Amazing that it still brings so much excitement to us Stone's fans. Thanks Honestman you are all that and more.
Looks like Mick was playing a Gibson Melody Maker that second night, no?

Love the words in that article which says it all, "Tasting Brown Sugar in a club is a connoissuer's delight" , No doubt it was. Thanks for that article Sohoe.

The recording really needs to be released in FULL. Even if Eddie Kramer had too many pops and crackles in the first night's recording, there are plenty of ways to edit that stuff out these days with ProTools or other editors. Bring it On, I say! Can't wait. peace

Brown Sugar in Utrecht... Ok, it wasn't a club but a theatre. But what a chaos it was... I will never understand how they managed to get it back on track.

I don't hear any Keith solo in Dance Little Sister from El Mocambo. Can only hear him riffing in the right channel.

Yes, Jimmy Page was mistaken as he thought Ronnie was Keith

OMG never heard about that hook up. That seems just too good to be true....drool, drool.....Any recorded material from those guys playing together?

Of course I'm flavored by west coast vibrations and thought the Greatful Dead was the best backup band Dylan ever had......peace
