Besides the obvious Stones live albums, Live and Dangerous by Thin Lizzy still does it for me.

Stones - Ya-ya's
Who - Leeds
Neil Young - Live Rust
Bob Dylan/The Band - Before the flood

I probably have to go Ya-Yas out of Stones loyalty but I was torn between a few. Now if there had been a proper 1972 live album officially released then it would be a different story.....
Bloody ABKCO!!!

Maybe not the greatest of all-time, but Otis Redding's Live in Europe deserves a mention.

No, Springsteen's Live 1975-1985 has sold more. Not sure what is the best selling of all time is.

Although I like The Who I cannot put them in the same league as the Beatles or the Stones. The notable exception is Live at Leeds. The Who's Live at Leeds is the best live album I've ever heard. The raw energy is unrivaled with Townsend bouncing sound all through out the small Leeds hall. The Who proceed to absolutely rip it up and tear the house down. While I am certain the Stones played some very impressive raw high energy gigs during the European '67 tour. For what ever reason (Klein, Jagger) they never decided to release them on a live album....

It's great, but it's a very particular period of The Who. Lots of guitar pyrotechnics and jamming. I like the deluxe version with more songs much better than the original release.

Believe it or not, my favorite is REO Speedwagon "You Get What You Play For". Very hard rockin' album. Not the soft ballad drivel that the later REO became.

My favorite two non-Stones live recordings have never been officially released:

"Shit, Shower and Shave" a soundboard bootleg of The Replacements opening set for Tom Petty in '89(?). Absolutely staggering version of Berry's Around & Around and Big Star's September Gurls. A brilliant performance by a band that had to perform to a hostile Tom Petty audience. Westerberg even says "the Rolling Stones are playing here tonight, but we're better!" before ripping into Around & Around. Stunning.

Elvis Costello & The Attractions never released their best live stuff, and the Clocking In Across America Tour in '83, which was broadcast on the radio, was a document of a band at the height of its powers.

I remember when I bought Live at Leeds and brought it over to a friend's house to listen to. His first reaction was "Why were the Who playing at a shoe store?"

(Leeds was a popular chain of shoe stores in the '60s)

I'll also have to go with "Otis Redding Live in Europe".

No, Springsteen's Live 1975-1985 has sold more. Not sure what is the best selling of all time is.

in america its garth brooks live album. certified 22 million sold as a double album meaning its sold 11 million physical units. frampton comes alive is around 4 million physical and bruce springsteen is around 5 million physical but close to 15 million since its a trible disc set. album the eagles have a 4 million physical selling live album meaning close to 8 million. yes thats very confussing the way the RIAA counts sales of multi disc sets so in america the breakdown is:
1 garth brook 11 milliom
2 clapton unplugged 10 million
3 springsteen 5 million
4 eagles and frampton 4 million

thats actual amount of product units sold. so its not counting all the sales it gets by being multi disc.

edit: found a list for america and claptons unplugged is #2
