Ladies and Gentlemen - DVD and movie
Posted by: originalstones ()
Date: August 29, 2010 01:29

You can now pre-order Ladies And Gentleman on both DVD and Blu-ray. I've never seen this movie before with the exception of clips. I'm a big fan of Blu-ray, so that's the one I'm ordering.

DVD link on Amazon.

So, why isn't Bill on the cover? Mick Taylor is. They desecrated a famous Ethan Russell photo just to ignore Wyman?

well..i'm sure to some, it's the perfect photo for the cover.

obviously the format of a dvd cover (unless done horizontally) would mean
cropping as they did. sure..they could've chosen another photo but...it
gave the Stones camp another opportunity to diss Bill (just like the photoshopping
on Rarities). I don't mind. Here's the original Ethan Russell composition:

Be glad they didn't remove BIll form the actual movie! Or did they?? winking smiley

The original uncropped picture has been used in promotion in conjunction with the dvd release, I believe. There's definitely no intentional dissing of Bill.

yep...can't wait. first time i saw it was while in college (early '80s at Marquette Univ.).
they showed it in a pub located in the basement of the student union (The MugRack).
simply advertised it as "Live Rolling Stones Movie"....so I wasn't sure if it would be
Gimme Shelter or ?. (Must've been before the movie LSTNT was released)

Yes, exactly--somewhere there are recordings of the four shows that provided the source for L&G--Fort Worth, June 24, 1972 (2 shows), and Houston, June 25, 1972 (2 shows). The boot that I have seen (which is very good) includes 15 tracks, presented as a set list (although derived from four shows) and two out-takes/bonus tracks. One might argue that this represents the best selections from the four shows--but these selections are subjective. I find the "Love In Vain" from Fort Worth (1st show) superior to the "LIV" from Houston (1st show) and would love to see a video of that performance. Both are, however, excellent.

Other question:
Will there be any 2009/2010 overdubs on L&G (done by MJ and/or MT)?
Or maybe they completly overdubbed all Bill's parts by Darryl..... ;-)

Unfortunately some of the recorded stuff for the film wasn't that good.

I've been listening to some boots from 72 yesterday and some shows or at least songs - like from Mobile or Chicago - are so much better and played with more power and speed.

If that stuff would have been in the film it would have been unbelievable.
So the soundtrack doesn't belong to their best from 72.

I don't see the deluxe box set listed on either amazon.com or amazon.ca - could it be exclusive to europe ?

never got around to buying 'stones in exile' or 'the dick cavett show' dvds so i wouldn't mind buying the box set .

Seeing as the datail have gone up for Showcase cinemas for the forthcoming Ladies and Gentlemen release i thought I'd see where people are planning on going.

Either Brum or Cov for me. Rather go somewhere I don't have to drive to, unless I can get myself a designated driver to come along that is smileys with beer

I'm GOING to watch it when it gets on DVD or HBO. Movie theaters are a complete rip-off. You go to a movie and six months later it's on TV? I don't have to be the first to see it, just as long as I get to see it.

I know what you're saying CBII, but it will be great to see this film on a big screen with a big sound to match!

Not this side of London. Looks like a choice of Newham, Bluewater (In Dartford, how appropriate!) or Reading.
