OT: Liz Taylor has died

Tabloids have been talking about "her final sad days" for what seems like 20 years, at least.

Still awaiting the definitive thread, courtesy of CrissCrossMind, which should be posted shortly.

I heard she recently made arrangements to be buried next to Richard Burton. Brings up an interesting question. Should you be buried next to the love of your life? Or should you be buried next to your LAST great love? For example, many people thought it was odd that Jackie O. was buried at Arlington, next to JFK. Shouldn't she have given up that right, and that honor, when she remarried?

Cremation and scatter a little bit of ashes on the graves of all her husbands?

Saw an ad in the Sunday newspaper from a funeral home - it said Make Pre-Arrangements blah blah blah.

This "pre" thing has gotten out of control. One can't make "pre" arrangements just as one can't "pre" order anything.

Although the actual act of pre-ordering or pre-anything is that you're not doing it, it is beforehand at all times. For example, "I want the holes pre-dug" means nobody is digging, everyone is doing something else.

Where the HELL is the definitive CrissCrossMind thread? This is HIS thing, after all. It's his job and he does it well. I expected him to do it well in THIS instance, especially. But he is asleep at the switch. He is not "Johnny on the spot". So I have tried to fill in for him. I have tried to provide a valuable pubic service. Perhaps this thread is not as respectful as it should be. But I have done the best I could. Love, light, thanks, praises, candles, incense, etc etc

CrissCross, tatters is right. He's only stating an observation. Her biggest news in the past 20 some years is being sick and Whacko. That's not exactly "disrespect", it is what it is.

IT WAS CHANGED (FOR THE BETTER) AS I WAS WRITING. It was nice of him to say what he said so I removed all the other stuff. The last years of Taylor's life were basically tabloid cause she had a long downward slide in her health so she couldn't act/work anymore anyway. Her life was SO volatile I'm surprise she made it to 79. Yeah, the last 10 or so years seemed to be a real mess. Sorry she's gone and peace to tatters, nice of you to write what you did. CCMind

I just knew her as some old faded actress, and then in my high school film class the teacher showed A PLACE IN THE SUN and I said to my mom after school, "It had a really beautiful actress." And my mom said, "That was Elizabeth Taylor." "Oh, THAT'S what she looked like when she was young!" Then I better understood her status.

She was the last of the great movie stars, I mean real movie stars.
She could be spoiled, earthy, self-deprecating, superficial, genuine, loudmouthed, classy, prim and proper and coarse, liked her privacy but could be shamelessly exhibitionist and when she got fat she told people to @#$%& off. She had a lust for life and she was authentic, the real thing.
And she always stuck up for the underdog..loyal to those she loved when they faltered and fell from grace or out of Hollywood favor - like Monty Clift....and she always had those amazing eyes and that raucous laugh.
SHe was part of my childhood on late-night TV....maybe the first movie star I was aware of.
One last word: Giant!

It was around 1974 indeed. I've read somewhere that there were some plans for a movie with Elizabeth, but it didn't had any form. Bowie was all drugged up and on a diet of Coke and milk.
The next year he would appear in the Man Who Fell To Earth...
