Almost all of Lou's albums are New York albums. "New York" isn't his best New York album, either. Not by a long shot.

Just off the top of my head, I think Joe Jackson's "Night And Day" is a great New York album. He had just begun living there and was still very much in love with the place when he made it.

IMHO STINYC is one of the weakest Lennon's albums (hint: too much Yoko).

Perhaps its because they're from NYC or the albums were recorded there, but every time I'm in NYC I think of Simon and Garfunkel. I can't get their tunes out of my head every time I'm in Manhattan.

Three records inspired by NYC that I would put in the best rock n roll records ever made category :

Ramones - Ramones
Velvet Underground & Nico
Television - Marquee Moon

(and not forgetting everything by Thelonius Monk smiling smiley

I'd say Patti Smith's Horses is pretty much New York through and through.

And here's an incredible ode to the Big Apple by The Boss - New York City Serenade.

Another great New York artist and an ode to the city that never sleeps - Laura Nyro and her album New York Tenderberry.

Let's not forget the outrageous Armand Schaubroeck and his Ratfcuker album. A punk classic with a nod to Lou Reed.
