I quite like the Austin,TX (Zilker Park) version on the mini stage. Fast paced, Jagger sings it well and the band is very tight.

It was done best in 1975 as part of the If You Can’t Rock Me medley

The Genius Of The Rolling Stones' “Get Off Of My Cloud” (Charlie Watts)

“Get Off Of My Cloud” is one of the quintessential Charlie Watts drum performances—a masterclass in groove, restraint, and rock ’n’ roll attitude. From the moment that unmistakable drum intro kicks in, Charlie’s playing takes over as the song’s heartbeat—steady, powerful, and unwavering. His groove brings a raw, rebellious edge that perfectly captures the spirit of the Stones.

Released in 1965 at the height of the Rolling Stones’ rise, “Get Off Of My Cloud” was their defiant answer to the growing pressure of fame and expectation. And at the center of it all was Charlie Watts, proving that style doesn’t come from playing more—but from playing exactly what the song needs.

Join Drumeo’s Brandon Toews as he breaks down the grooves, fills, and nuances behind one of Charlie Watts’ most iconic performances—and discover why his drumming continues to influence generations of rock drummers.

I appreciate when Charlie receives these plaudits. But “steady,” “reliable” “repetition,” “restrained,” “simple” — this common frame around his playing is a cliche that doesn’t actually do the man justice. Not enough people paid attention to all the great drum parts he played in his 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Charlie was not simple.

Charlie was a BUSY drummer!

I bought this 45 the day it was released in UK. There was nothing , nothing remotely like it before. It just leapt out of the radio then and I still play it regularly today……………always LOUD.
