Cool song. I've always liked it.

Discuss.

I'm a fan. Great guitar. It's a highlight of Steel Wheels.

"Break The Spell" is another good one.

it's what the word "unlistenable" was invented to describe....

What is "unlistenable" about it?

Sounds like good rock and roll to me.

It's a rockabilly tune, really; listen (in your mind) to it with standard (stripped down) line up: drum, stand-up bass & guitar (accoustic ór electric)... maybe add a whalin' sax... double-up the guitar... play'em to eleven... Màn. Party in my mind!

But I aggree: it could have sounded better then the way it turned out on the record.

And the lyrics...just need to change them as well, and we're good to go.

The alternate version, which came out on a boot a year or so ago, has a much better mix, and a terrific piano that IMO turns a mediocre track into a great rocker.

I love it! It's good to see that I'm not the only one, even if we're a minority. It's my favorite track on the album.

I think this would be a good song to use in a movie for a car chase scene.

HOTYH is a good song, a bit rough and simple but is funny to listen to.

Sounds like AC/DC

it tries to sound so rough, but the title is so mild: Hold on to your hat... and your little dog, too!

Could have been a good song, but imo it´s ruined by Mick´s playing and the horrible effects on Keith´s solo guitar. Not the most inventive melody lines either. Still, it rocks.

It kind of reminds me of ZZ Top for some reason.

I liked the effort musically (performance wise) but it sounds contrived overall. "Hey, we can rock". Weak. There's no sleaze. It's old men sipping tea through a Marshall amp.

Is it better than Hold Back? Hold Back has more interesting guitar and maybe a better vocal delivery - but barely.

Dreadful. Sounds like a leftover from Primitive Cool. Just awful. My first clue that the Stones would never be the same. Sad, Sad, Sad is worse though.

I've always thought Steel Wheels had alot of great energy on it... more than others and there are some great tracks on there i.m.o

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

It's not much of a song, but it's presented with a good amount of energy. To me, it almost sounds like they're having fun, but I'm not as cynical as some.

There's a better version on the outakes

and as for the other comments I'm not sure mr.Tod likes anything really??

Put me in the "love it" group - it's got that outtake-like feeling of being allowed to listen in to a great Stones jam that never quite got finished but was far too much fun to throw away - a bit like Turd On The Run, although Turd is far and away the better track (and seems to get the same love-it-or-hate-it reactions as HOTYH).

I like it, Yes i do..Charlie Watts and Jagger wrote a real hard rocker....Showed to me that the stones still had life...Woodie and Keith play like they did on the Some Girls album..
I like it more on the new remaster..
