2011 Stones vs Led Zeppelin,Who will sell more tickets?(If it was to happen)

Nothing much new on the board except the Jagger solo tour RUMOR,so let hear what you think, if in 2011 The Stones decide to tour and so does Led Zeppelin,Which band do you think would come out on top,in ticket sales?
Imo, Led Zeppelin would sell much more than the Stones,if for no other reason than the fact that they haven't done it in a long time, and unless The Stones come with something new in terms of venues, setlists, etc,l think they may not do very well.
Any opinions?

Led Zeppelin of course, just because they were inactive for 30 years.
if the Stones stopped rolling in 1972, they would outdo the Beatles for tickets today...

depends on where I would think.

In England and US, probably Led Zeppelin (30 years of pent up demand), but in the rest of the world, I would presume still the Stones.

If I had to pick between Zep & the Stones on the same night, Zep would get my nod, just because I've never seen them before.

WHAAAAAT!

Led Zeppelin is a good band, I put them on sometimes, but every song in their catalogue has a better equivalent by the Stones.

it's only that Led Zep are enjoyed by casual pop/rock fans, blues fans and metal fans, while the Stones are popular mostly for their fame, not music. people know they play rock and that's all x)

Yes! I hear you! I like them equally, and can never get tired of them.

Like I said, I'd go see Zeppelin because I've never seen them, but came oh so close back in '76.
As a fifteen year-old in '76, it was my "lifelong" dream to see Zeppelin live. I liked them more than the Stones at the time.
I had tickets to see them at the Louisiana Superdome, but Plan't son died just a few days before and Zeppelin never came back to my part of the world since.

Zeppelin, hands down. And if I had to pick one, it would definately be Zep. I've seen the Stones 6 times, and only one Robert Plant show in 1990. Hell, I'd see a reunion of Roger Waters and David Gilmour before I'd see the Stones again. And if scarcity breeds love - same goes for Bowie.

Led Zep probably because of little live perf last 30 years.

Performance vice Mick is way better than Plant. Plant is boring and his singing / voice has gone down pretty much the last years.

Jones is still a fantastic bass player, the same with Page on guitar.

If Keith and Ronnie really did their job on guitar it might attract more people to their shows.

But, Stones have been quite much on the road the last many years with high ticket prices, so their public attraction is slowly decreasing.

It wont happen and it's all irrelevant, but its a no-brainer.

Zeppelin by a mile. Mainly for the reasons you've stated, but even if they had both been active for the last three decades and were charging similar amounts for tickets, they'd probably have been at least as big a concert draw as the Stones have been in that time. Certainly if record sales are any barometer - LZ's worst selling albums and archive releases shift more copies than pretty much any new Stones product.

If Zeppelin toured again, even with the economy having caused such a fall in ticket sales, it would still be the most financially lucrative tour ever. They're one band who literally could simply name their price.

Well Colonial,l have to disagree with your statement "but The Stones would take them out every time" In ticket sales LZ would do much better, the Stones have toured a lot in the last few years, and in all honesty if they come up with another stadium tour, and the same tire setlists, and over the top prices, many fans myself included would think twice about buying tickets..They would have to do something totally different in order for people in this economy to spend a large amount of $$$ to see them..We'll see..

If Led Zep toured, the demand would be through the roof, unlike any tour in rock history. And, if their performances were anything like the show at the O2 Arena in 2007, Led Zep'd kick ass! They sounded better on that night than they did on their last few tours before John Bonham died.

If Led Zep announced that they were going to tour in 2011, any tour that the Stones might be planning would be canceled.

I'm sick of the stones.

I think I'm going to start my own Led Zeppeling website, and call it:

www.swth.org....or should it be sth.org?

Is it stairway, or stair way??

Led Zeppelin would sell more due to the novelty of regrouping. Probably won't pay to see Stones again although I might pay to see Zep. McCartney and Springsteen still put on good memorable shows and feel fresh. Going to see U2 in Oakland. Just saw one of the best concerts ever, McCartney at AT&T park in SF.

A Led Zeppelin wouldn't last very long.
I prefer the Graf Zeppelin, let alone the music:

You're soooo wrong.
LZ would outsell the Stones even in Mars.
Millions of people haven't seen them play.

Well, BILLIONS of people haven't seen the Stones play either, that doesn't mean they are banging down the door to see a Stones show. STONES have wider international appeal, after touring like hell over the last 20 years. Led Zeppelin were big 30 years ago, but I'm not sure outside of North America or Northern Europe there would be the type of rabid enthusiasm you are alluding to.

it's all only hypothetical, of course - but i think you are very wrong. zep records sold big the world over...the demand worldwide for tix would be astounding.

There is. Unquestionably.

Hate to say it but Zep would destroy The Stones. Kind of doubt it will happen though. Seems Plant is not interested. However, if it did happen I wonder if a constructive competition would ensue. Like the old days.

Are you in Ice Ages? You always chasing the nut? Led Zeppelin "would be right up there"? You didn't finish that sentence....which would be, "miles above the Stones and anyone else".
