Ever liked this group. just plaing " AS safe as yesterday is" and "Smokin"; very underrated later. its a pity, Marriot and Frampton wanted to do his "OWN" things.

Great band with some great songs, as were Family - shame we don't get bands like those these days. One hit now and they are playing @#$%& stadiums, they don't learn their trade on the road like the old bands did.

i caught these guys back in 1979 opening for ZZ TOP.steve marriot rocks!!!!

Agreed. In fact, I think the whole album is great.

I've was listening to their song "Live With Me" (same title as the Stones song, but a different tune. ) from the third album a couple days ago. It's a real burner, with one of the best drum sounds ever courtesy of Glyn Johns.

Smokin' is their masterpiece. Pure Stonesy rock'n'roll but with more of a bluesy edge to it.

Agreed. In fact, I think the whole album is great.

"Performance" is a top ten live album of all the times.

Saw them live ca. 71. Good show.(Marriot spitting more then the Pisols)!

I always liked stuff like Perfomance, Smokin and some from Eat it (Honky Tonk Woman), - and Jerry Shirleys drumming!(Very much influenced by Kenny Jones).

And what other band had 3 guitarists, - all more or less considered once to follow Taylon in the Stones?!? lol (Marriott, Frampton and Clempson).

I'd go with Marriott or Winwood over Burdon. He's a good singer, but Eric really didn't have the pipes to put him in the "supreme" category.

I read once where a bunch of British stars were hangin' out in a pub where Marriott was on stage. Some people were encouraging Robert Plant to get up there, and he said, "Me follow Steve Marriott? No way!"

awsome band! I just heard em for the first time a few eeks ago when I found the double live LP on second hand for 10 SEK (ca 1 euro)

Rockin The Fillmore IS one of the best live rock albums ever.

Every rock fan should have this in their collection. I believe it was one of Peter Frampton's last live appearances with the band.

Not forgetting that Steve Marriott was Keiths first choice to replace Mick Taylor- or that Brian Jones expressed interest in joining the newly formed Humble Pie but croaked before he could hook up. Never lost his ability to play and sing but drink and drugs stopped Marriott from writing top shelf material and consequently the Pie are remembered if at all as the poor mans Led Zeppelin.

Four Day Creep from Rockin The Fillmore and a later reunion concert I think for Steve Marriott tribute in 2001. One of my favorites from Fillmore.

With one of the best live intro's ever, song two from Rockin The Fillmore, "I'm Ready"

I played the crap out of that album when it first came out...still holds up today. I like it

Don't forget The Blackberries!
Those girls, Billie Barnum, Vanetta Fields and Clydie King, were dynamite.

Exile On Main Street would have had a different face without Clydie King's contribution.

Love "The Pie"...they were very versatile in the Frampton days, and then came up with one of the quintessential British blues rock albums in "Smokin'"
