Good call on Clem Burke and Topper Headon, Gazza!

Lots of good precision, technical drummers out there like Carl Palmer or Neal Peart...others whose strength is in fitting with the rest of the band, even though they are not technically as sound. So I am not sure technical proficiency is as important as fitting the music and the band. Topper Headon fit the Clash and also help advance their sound. Clem Burke drove Blondie songs like Dreaming Is Free, and has played with loads of other bands.

Meg White may be sloppy drummer, but was perfect for the White Stripes.

We're talking favourites here, right?

I completed forgot Zigaboo Modeliste. Love his playing!

Totally, and Charlie was complimentary about her.

In fact apart from Charlie, my two favorite drummers are Meg and John Bonham, go figure.

I think the best drummer right now is Abe Laboriel Jr.

But Carl Palmer, Bill Brufford, Bonzo, Keith Moon are the ones I like the best.

I missed Glen Kotche on my list. That guy is awesome. I'm glad I'm not the only one who put Steven Drozd on their list. He's my favorite. Very original & IMO a genius musician. He's an amazing guitarist, keyboard player & singer too. I just saw the Flaming Lips on 8/3 in Portland. They blow me away every time I see them & I listen to them more than anyone consistently. Steven played 1 of the most beautiful guitar solos I've ever heard in a show during "Feeling Yourself Disintegrate" & then on the next song played drums on "Race For The Prize". "Race" is one of my favorite drum parts of all time. The show was webcast worldwide. Below is a link where you can download a pro shot video of the whole show. If you do, you have to fast forward about a half hour in to get to start of the show. Well worth the effort!
