Honestly, I really cannot think of any drummer besides CW that I would recognize easily and enjoy listening to.

Gary Husband.
Billy Cobham

I would replace Dennis Chambers with Keith Moon (the best rock drummer ever), and Gary Husband with Jon Hiseman (or John Marshall), but apart from that ... spot on! Colaiuta is my fave of all. Saw him last year with John MacLaughlin and Chick Corea, but his work with Zappa was stellar.

I bet you like Holdsworth too.(john Hiseman with Tempest, the early 7-tees)

Saw Husband/Holdworth last year,Husband is a great keyboard player too btw..
Chambers is the absolute butcher to me. Saw him with mcLaughlin and Joey DeFrancesco.I resign...

well he played with the Beatles..
This is true, but as Lennon himslef said when asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world, he replied - 'Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the beatles'!

at least yoko ono takes up for ringo. she said ringo could almost read john's mind and play the fills exactly as john wanted which is why they used ringo on plastic ono band

Ringo's drumming on the "Plastic Ono Band" alone would make him one of history's greatest drummers. The way he was locked in with Klaus Voorman and the tasty sound of his snare on that record was amazing. The sparse arrangements meant he had a lot of room, and he absolutely shines. Give me a simple Ringo fill any day over the usual pyrotechnics.

Hey, and what about Hal Blaine?

No wonder you and I seem to agree musically more than some of the others. I read some of the posts in this thread and wonder how the posters can like the Stones. Not that one can't enjoy various styles of music..

Right on the money Tele! Fantastic observation. Additionally, listen to Ringo's drumming on all of Abbey Road. It is phenominal! A true steady rolling man Ringo is

I've been impressed with the following jazz drummers of late:

Bill Stewart
Antonio Sanchez
Idris Muhammed (his style is close to my own, how I aspire to play)
Elvin Jones
Jack deJohnette

As for Rock and Roll, I have to go with:

Bonham (such a musical drummer, represents at least 25% of LZ!)
Ringo (for reasons cited above many times over)
Moon (nobody was ever as much fun to watch, ever)
Mick Fleetwood (Love his grooves with J. McVie)
Gadd or Keltner (both legendary session drummers and great live performers as well)
