What if...

.. the newer albums only contained 10 songs, like the ones often praised here? (Exept for Exile of course)

Steel Wheels:
Sad Sad
Mixed Emotions
Terrifying
Hold on to your hat
Hearts for sale
Blinded by love
Rock and a hard place
Can't be seen
Almost hear you sigh
Slipping away

Voodoo Lounge:
Love is strong
You got me rocking
Sparks will fly
The worst
New faces
Out of tears
I go wild
Brand new car
Blinded by rainbows
Thru and thru

Bridges to Babylon:
Flip the switch
Low down
Already over me
You don't have to mean it
Out of control
Saint of me
Alway suffering
Too tight
Thief in the night
How can I stop

A bigger bang:
Rough justice
Let me down slow
Rain fall down
Streets of love
Back of my hand
She saw me coming
Biggest mistake
This place is empty
Oh no, not you again
Infamy

I think the albums would have been better. That would have resulted in a lot of left overs for the vault, just like in the old days. It would have forced the band to make their choice of songs more carefully, and thus resulted in better albums. And hopefully the left overs would never surface on later editions of the original albums.

Let's see what really is interesting to listen to then...

So I could propose to make one album out of four albums with 15 songs...the quality isn't there

'Till the next time we say goodbye'

I think all of the songs above are great songs. If they had been released in 71 they would have been like brown sugar and the rest of Sticky fingers now.

hmmm....you're right that all those albums are too long and have too many fillers and would be better with less songs on it...
but any album with streets of love on it is a crap album! ;-)
will do my "yes/no" list another time...

A lot of the recent b-sides should take their place ON the albums... they are a lot better than the "filler" and I'm using that word nicely

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

I agree that each album should be cut to 10 songs. But I don't think I'd go with the 10 you've chosen in any case, and I'd use some of the B-sides on each album as well. Different strokes for different folks.

Well exactly...and if for instance, you replaced Streets of Love (which I don't even mind), or Let Me Slow Down with Under the Radar...it's a completely different album.

Rather than throwing out tracks, I'd prefere they re-released with bonus tracks from the vaults. There's gold in those vaults, and the Exile re-release proved it.

I couldn't disagree more. Give me new music. Regarding throwing out songs, I guess it's different to every person which songs to keep and so on. But to compare the extras on Exile with A bigger bang? I'd keep A bigger bang any day.
