Point taken and agreed... I think if they sat down and worked as a band they could come up w something great. Drop the routine...
Make something new and back to the semi-original band
Maybe bill it as "The Rolling Stones like you've never heard or seen"
And Mick please write better lyrics....don't knock them off in 5 mins. and consider it done.
They just really need to work on a NEW direction especially this late in the game.
Even if that means dropping Was. If Was is involved don't look for anything special.

I don't think the new songs on Exile deluxe contributes to anything. A waste of time and money. The songs aren't nearly as good as the ones on the original album.

I personally think the EXILE RARITIES - even with its some horrible Was/Jagger moments - is the best Stones album since TATTOO YOU. What they have in the vaults from their golden days easily surpasses anything they have done in last 20 years or so. I rather hear them in their vital twenties/thirties than as fifty/sixty/seventysomethings trying to sound like in their twenties/thirties. The real thing is the real thing. I wouldn't much use the term "original" much to their doings in the last two decades as far as their recorded output goes.

I would rather have the vault to burn down and all that's in it too. You know why? Because those songs were not considered good enough to be on the albums. And the decision was made by the band. Why should we dig them out now? Have they gotten better over the years? NO!

While I don't disagree about the producer for a new album, I think you're both off the mark on the newly released EXILE bonus cuts.

Ok, which of the "new" Exile songs holds the same standard as the ones originally released? I mean seriously, which ones match All down the line, Rip this joint, Tumblin dice, Let it loose, Happy, Sweet Virginia, Loving cup, Stop breaking down, Torn and frayed, Sweet black angel, Shine a light....? Seriously?

It's no shame to release a new album with only 10 or 11 songs on it, is it? I mean: they're the Stones, right... They're Rock'n'Roll Royalty; they can afford that. Nobody will say they're lazy (just expensive... ;o) -especially not if the new release is a brilliant eye-opener to the masses. (Yep; still dreamin' about such a thing. ;o)

I think the main problem with all the most recent albums is how quickly they are made.
I'm aware that some of the older classic albums were made rather quickly espcially in relation to each oth but the difference is that Mick and Keith were immersed in music the entire time. Whereas they used to actually play and write together constantly now they only get together once in awhile with the specific goal of a product.
You can't suddenly shake off several years of inactivity and go record 15 new songs in a matter of days. When you think of it that way it's impressive they are as good as they have been.

I for one am sick and tired of all the seventies nostalgia, with the recent release of ten songs from Exile on Main Street. I want something new and innovative. I want rap, some blues, a disco song, several hard rockers, a few ballads, and more than anything else, a song that stays in the top ten for several weeks. At least one cover would be nice. It would be nice if Jagger could sing with other artists on some of the songs. What about Sheryl Crow. I would have no problems with their making songs similar to those on A Bigger Bang. I don't care, but please no more seventies crap!
