I remember getting this one in the mail and how floored I was at how good it sounded! Glad they left off Can't Be Seen. Ugh.

I thought this too, can't believe its 20 years. This is one of my favorite RS shows.

SW and UJ are my favorite "modern era" tours, and this show I think is one of the best. It has one of the best versions of "Start Me Up", and "Gimme Shelter" I think.

I seem to remember someone on this forum mentioned this show took place in the rain, but there's nothing on the recording that suggests this. Can anyone who was there confirm or deny this?

I prefer the Madrid Show of that urban jungle tour which is around on Godfather records with a different setlist INCLUDING can't be seen and Blinded by Love!!!

I really enjoyed this tour and actually was in london at the (old and ORIGINAL) Wembley Stadium for this show. Magical time, great weather...sad it's already 20 years ago today!

I remember going to this show...a fantastic night indeed. I was stationed at RAF Chicksands and was sad that I missed the Steel Wheels U.S. Tour, but I remember tellimg my roommate the second we heard of the Urban Jungle Tour that we have to get tickets!

That ticket was on of the best things I'd ever spent my money one....my roomate from Chicksands became a converted Stones fan...he now loves Exile.

the shoot 'em dead, brainbell jangler!

If I remember correctly at the beginning of (or perhaps the end of the previous track) Almost Hear You Sigh Mick says something the effect of "Looks like we're gonna git a little bit of rain, I know..." and then they start the song.

This was my first show too.

Took my bro to it as it was his 21st birthday the next day.

What a GREAT concert it was.

Together with Tokyo Feb 26th 1990 and Atlantic City 89, that London show/recording is a top-notch recording and performance. Everybody should have those 3 mentioned show in their collection.

The show on the 6th was better (in fact the best stadium show I've ever seen) and Radio 1 recorded both shows (both were MC'd by Nicky Campbell).

Those UK shows were of a very high standard and the week of Cardiff/Newcastle/Manchester was superb.

"I prefer the Madrid Show of that urban jungle tour"

imho it sounds better but the 7-7 gig rocks harder.

I was there and right at the front by the stage (had to queue all day by the gates). I still remember the heat of the flames. I was 19 yrs old.

Did they do just the one Wembley show?

I once had a cassette bootleg that I bought from Camden Market.

Yes, 3 Urban Jungle shows in July and 2 in August with the Steel Wheels set over the lenght of the stadium (I heard) for At The Max!

I remember seeing opening night, May 18 at Feynoord Stadium in Rotterdam. I have TV footage of that with Start Me Up that perfectly captured the frenzy of people reacting to the return of The Stones after 8 years. Thinking of it I now get goozbumps all over my body, seriously! You felt and heard the rumble of the stadium, the explosions. I lost the videocassettes I just mentioned during a housemoving a couple of years back but the memory is great. MTV showed some (part) of that footage on their Urban Jungle weekend in May/June 1990 with Ronnie also referring to the rumbling in the stadium. It was sooo loud, so bombastic, so massive. I nearly cried seeing the Stones again as I never thought they would return!

The Steel Wheels stage was at the end of the stadium same as the Urban Jungle stage not length wise.

Thanks for clearing that up! Will have to check my At The Max Blu Ray again...must have been the Weissbier mit Bananensaft I slammed the night Germany was beaten by Spain in the WC semi finals!

I was there ,in the crush . I always loved MR from this show .Keith,Charlie and BILL are in a fantastic groove , with wonderful harmonica by Mick.
The BBC's recording was one of the best ever.

Then , they were, without any doubt, THE GREATEST ROCK N ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD.
