Stripped is one of the BEST covers

AGREE! Along with Black and Blue.

Yes, you have a good point, but would you believe they have actually done this in recent years ("Stripped" album) and still managed to stuff it up

Not sure where the Stripped shot was taken...I'll look into it. Was it in a recording studio??
When i say "in the studio"..I mean (even if it's not one shot)...I wanna see them
recording IN the studio. Stripped would've been the perfect opportunity as they were
all there together in a confined space.

Photo's were taken in Paradiso, Amsterdam (Netherlands). Front cover was taken in the basement of Paradiso.

Thanks for the info.
BTW - I like this shot....but not sure why they thought sunglasses would be cool. At least the location
is relevant to the music. (Paradiso)

One thing I am learning from reading peoples comments here is that perhaps I am a very cynical person when viewing Stones artwork... Hard to describe, but the Stripped artwork seems very contrived to me. The "red flames" in the Stripped logo, everyone wearing sunglasses, Ronnie looking silly in the big shoes & big hair... Maybe I am hard to please hahaha

I can't believe no one's mentioned Voodoo Lounge! I think that one's atrocious.

The worst solo album cover art prize goes to Primitive Cool.

The Stripped cover stinks. They're trying to look like a band. There are much better pictures inside.

Voodoo does suck. Again - much better images on the inside.

For some reason I actually like the Bridges cover.

Never thought Steel Wheels or Flashpoint were poor images in themselves. Both were striking and iconic. However, were they good Stones covers? Flashpoint could be something Don Draper came up with for a oil company in the 60s (still good though) and Steels Wheels a Warhol-ish silkprint for a minimalistic Scandinavian home.

If we´re talking less impressive covers however, I´d might vote for VL, B2B (Oh my God!), Undercover, ER and Still Life.

Totally agree with you, but you forgot "A Bigger Bang"! What an awful cover!

Beggars Banquet - The original release!! by far the wost! An invitation card? really?

Now the toilet/seat cover is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that's my worst and fav. and it's the same album!

Odd.
I think Beggars Banquet is a brilliant cover, an invitation card is such a good idea - tastefully done and relevant...it just shows how difficult it is to please everybody.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the original Black and Blue cover yet...I quite liked it, thought it a shame they banned it - Fecking PC brigade

I thought that the 'ad poster' for the album was what was banned, and not the cover? "I'm Black & Blue with the Rolling Stones, and I love it", or something like that.

I could be mistaken, but I've never heard that their was a cover banned.

Anyone know for sure?

No I think you are correct, although the image of a woman hand tied and beaten black and blue didn't go down well either!

I've always wondered...if, when the Stones get together for a group shot, they
are very cooperative..or not?

Has anybody read any interviews with photogs that have shot them in
posed situations? From personal experience, the more famous or
important a person (or group) is....the more they (or their "people" ) put limits
on the photoshoot. For example "be ready, once the Stones get here...you'll
have 5 minutes...no more..no less,,,and don't speak to them!".

If I remember correctly, the Deluxe ABB dvd (surprisingly) had a variety of
group poses and individual bandmembers.

In general, I wonder if they see it as a necessary evil or they devote
a fair amount of time to it.....some group shots look fine...others look
thrown together without much thought.

And....using the STRIPPED album cover as an example, who tells
Mick to stand in the foreground and Keith to sit in the back.
I guess what I'm saying is ...do they squabble like Stillwater?" (movie reference: Almost Famous) winking smiley

Some of my favorites not yet mentioned:
Aftermath (UK)
Between the Buttons (UK)

And the worst in my book:
Goats Head. Bad even for the 70s.

I appreciate the new perspective on No Security. Interesting

I rarely see the inside pictures....cuz i keep all my CDs in a
Sony jukebox style player...cases (w/artwork) boxed up in the basement.
Guess i'll need to dig those out.

If we're going for album covers of neutered carnivores, I would prefer a tiger.

now THAT would be a great album cover!
