We went through this recently. It's only Keith on the intro. One guitar, open G tuning.

Sounds like just Keith to me. Where did you hear that Mick Taylor had said this?

One guitar, and it's Keith. When the verse kicks in you can hear Taylors rythm-guitar which is cleaner sounding than the distorted riff.
It could, of course, be that Taylor also recorded a track during the intro that was edited out in the final mix.

Or it could be that he means the beginning of the song in a looser term, maybe just not the intro, exactly.

Or yeah - he was edited (mixed) out.

Or...he actually didn't do anything, which, based on the bleedthrough that is on the song, he did not play on the intro or the very beginning but rather as it is on the album, which is when the singing starts, because we'd probably be able to hear it. But that's neither here nor there.

Probably most plausible.
