FINALLY !!! The Amazing Unreleased 1973 "CRISS CROSS MIND" In Excellent Stereo Sound !!!
Posted by: HelterSkelter ()
Date: June 25, 2010 17:08

Some call it CRISS CROSS, some call it CRISS CROSS MAN and some call it SAVE ME but whatever the case it was left off of GOAT'S HEAD SOUP for some reason when in actuality it fit right in - would have made a stronger album. GHS needed one or 2 more rockers !!! HERE'S ONE, ROCK OUT KIDS !!!!

CRISS CROSS MIND - EXCELLENT STEREO - Full Version

AOTHER GHS OUTTAKE - FAST TALKING, SLOW WALKING (Not sure that's the true title but who knows ....)

Great, crisp version of CCM, love the percussion at the very end!! Never noticed that before. Thanks Helter!

Love the 2nd tune, too... Don't think I've heard that one before. Thanks again. I love stuff like this.

Jagger actually sings "...you're the kinda woman that give me a criss cross MIND..."

+ more
Additional musicians: Nicky Hopkins, Jimmy Miller, Bobby Keys and Jim Price.
Note: In July they recorded about 20 new tracks. No mixing or overdubbing
was done until the 30th November.
The vocal parts for most of the tracks were recorded in Los Angeles.

Maybe it wasn't finished and it got finished for GHS, hence the phase on the guitar, which wasn't used for Exile. If it was indeed finished for Exile then it looks like Mick missed another chance at releasing something that was finished.

re: fast talking slow walking....he's saving it for the next Exile remaster in 5 yrs. winking smiley

re: criss cross man.....is it sort of a faster Dancing With Mr. D??? even though it has unique qualities
there were some parts that felt like a "mr. d" vibe....and maybe the thought too similar for same album. (?)

IORR............but I like it!

If that's the case, they picked the wrong song...

Save Me, or Criss Cross Mind, should have been a single, AND I think they should release it as a single either RIGHT NOW, or hmmm...with whatever the next outtakes release is.

MAYBE, they could cobble together a Tattoo You II?

Tattoo You II is a great idea. CRISS CROSS MIND would have been a great single AND/OR show opener...

Anybody knows how the bootleg with such crisp version is called?

Sounds fantastic, thanks Helter. Obviously different (and slower) than the other, widely-circulated bootleg version.

Is there some way to convert this to MP3? I want this on my iPod!

The idea of a Deluxe GHS looks better all the time. And I don't even think they would need to do any overdubs. Disc 1: Original Album plus outtakes and Through The Lonely Nights, Disc 2: Live Europe '73.

Let's have it!

Never cared for the track. It is so stuck in 1972/3 with the phaser and Jethro Tull flute thing happening and Keith would at least need to remove the G tuning guit as so much of it is unashamedly lifted from "Brown sugar".

It's a worthy outtake. It certainly should never have been a single.

Why "FINALLY"? It's available since a long time on "Acetates" (Midnight Beat). So absolutely nothing new here!

I like the second song a lot. You can really hear the influence of the producer Jimmy Miller. Too bad they never released it.

Why did the Stones dump Jimmy Miller? He was responsible for some of the Stones best material.

Save Me and Silver Train are the two that get compared all the time, not Dancing With Mr. D.

I still like Save Me better than Silver Train.

Listening to Criss Cross, at about 1:03, I keep singing "looks like another dead end Sunday".

very known outtakes but the quality is superior this time. The uploader must have some gems ...

"Fast Talking, Slow Walking" sounds like a Beatles composition or a Lennon outtake ...
