Bill Wyman Not Interested In Stones

Bill Wyman ''isn't interested'' in whether his former band the Rolling Stones tour again, as he is concentrating on his own.

The 73-year-old rocker - who left the iconic group in 1992 and now tours with his own band Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings - revealed while he is still friends with his former bandmates, he doesn't care about whether they go back on tour or not.

He told BANG Showbiz: "It doesn't interest me. I've got my own band. I have fun doing my own band. I don't do it for money or ego or for the charts.

"I do it for fun, and that's the way I like to do music now. I'm still good friends with the band."

The bassist - who was ranked number 10 in Maxim magazine's Living Sex Legends list - admitted he has no regret about leaving the band, despite being part of the group for 30 years.

He insisted: "No, not at all. No regret.

"If you were a bricklayer for 30 years and then went on to do something else you wouldn't go back to being a bricklayer would you?

"They're great boys and good luck to them."

I still hope to see Bill Wyman playing once again on stage with the Rolling Stones.

Dammit Bill stop playing hard to get! Admit now that you would love to join the boys for five nights in the UK to play tracks from Exile and some assorted other gems!

Yes, he could play on "Casino Boogie", "Torn & Frayed", "Shine A Light", "Happy" and "Soul Survivor" to make up for not playing on them the first time smiling smiley

I don't buy his nice media friendly quote.

You know Bill misses the money and the GIRLS!

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

Bill is just frustrated

Come on. Leave Bill alone. He had his time with the Stones. It's done. Let him enjoy his Rhythm Kings.

it sounds like he has something to reproach his former famous friends
is there a bone of contention between them ?

He is touring more and enjoying more than if he were on the Stones. He is a lucky and clever man

Yeah, I agree. If you ever saw the Rhythm Kings on stage, you would understand why Bill
prefers playing with his own band. They're not working their way through a show, but plain
and simple are having fun making music.

from reading 'Stone Alone' it sure sounds like he was pretty frustrated a lot of the time with Mick and Keith. He put in his time and retired. interesting that from his remarks it was just a job to him.

Paris, France.
Tuesday, October 11th 1998.

The Stones will tour the UK next summer, and the fans hope to see you on stage with them.
Would you accept if they invite you ?
The Stones are not Spinal Tap...

Does that mean you would refuse ?
No, I don't refuse, but I see no reason for doing it.
If they were doing something special, like maybe a TV special for the year 2000, playing the old songs, then maybe I'll do it.
But that part of my life is over. I moved to other things that are much more satisfying inside.

It is admireable that Bill Wyman managed to change his life in his fifties and went into a direction he liked, why should he come back? A new Stones tour is not probable anyway.

Absolutely

We should all disabuse ourselves of the fantasies that Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor will ever rejoin the Stones. They left a long time ago and will not return. Repeat, they will not be returning.

Why would he care? How long has he been out? 15 years? A lot of living goes on in 15 years.

I do miss the hell out of him. I really miss his rocking bass lines. Darryl is to fluid for me.

Not the best analogy regarding the bricklayer. Its not as if you quit the band & music altogether. More like you quit being a bricklayer & then went on to be brickmaker. Still workin' with bricks! You can tell I am just frustrated & want Bill back. Have been listening to Hampton '81 a lot again....

He's still a bricklayer. It's just that he's working for himself now. Nothing wrong with that. It's just too bad that he couldn't have it both ways, like Charlie.

Yeah, pretty obvious he'll never be onstage with the Stones again. Tour, 'special' show, anything. Same with Taylor. Recording is one thing but live? Ha ha. Not even comparable.

Bill is entitled to his own career. Doesn't he work more with his own band performing live?

After 30 years it was just a job, he's still a musician making music, he just changed the company he works for.

Bill doesn't owe any of us anything.

At 73, I doubt he misses the girls.

Exactly. Again, just leave Bill alone. He's alright.

IF the Stones want a reunion or something, they know where to find him. Same goes for Mick Taylor. ;-)

Why is it so hard to believe that a seventy-three-year-old man DOESN'T want to play rock music in football stadiums?

Good for Bill. He's still playing and having fun with his mates while the Stones are not.

Geez, I am not asking him to rejoin for a world tour. Just be open to getting your buns up there with Mick Taylor for a couple of nights. Is that too much to demandsmiling smiley

It would be easier if the Stones were a working band that could do occasional small shows like The Who,Clapton etc. NOT the giant corporation they have become, making impossible to do something low key that would probably appeal to Bill or Mick Taylor more.

How do you compare playing with the Greatest Rock 'n Roll Band in the World with being a bricklayer?

You got the Sun, You got the Moon,
and you've got
The Rolling Stones

Watching Bill on the extra interviews on the Stones in Exile DVD...I sensed some hostility or toughness towards Keith...anyone else sense that?
