Which Stones song(s) never before played live would you like to hear ?

There's a pretty long list to choose from.

Which Stones songs would you like to hear that the Stones never before played live?

I used this list: [rocksoff.org] compiled by Gazza, to choose what I would love to see live, assuming we get more shows.

Pick at least one song (could be more) that you would like to see performed.

Here is what I came up with:

Time Waits For No One, not with Ronnie on lead, but with a guest appearance of MT
Till the Next Good Bye
Hide Your Love
Sittin' on a Fence
Winter
Coming Down Again
Hundred Years Ago, not with Ronnie on lead, but with a guest appearance of MT.
Silver Train
Dear Doctor
What To Do
Going Home, but not with Ronnie on lead, but with a guest appearance of MT.

I think I've said it before in a simillar thread, but Luxury as a pure rock tune, not an attemp to go rock/reggea would have been very cool, I think.

Silver Train HAS been played live.

Personal choice - Out of Time. A number 1 hit single for Chris Farlow and EVERY audience would know it. Would bring the house down.

You Cant Catch Me would be my personal choice, but Out of Time is more realistic

Out of Time might be more recognizable to the masses, and I would love to see it as well, but I could easily see You Can't Catch Me on stage at a Stones show.

Yeah never gave "Out of time" a thought before but as Gazza said I believe it would be stadium rocker.

Agree also with a rnr version of "Luxury".

Dunno if they've ever played it but would love to hear "Mona".

"Winter" would be great but it's too obscure and I think Ron and Keith would make a mess of it because they'd rarely know where they are in the song and Mick would spend more energy on directing traffic and worrying himself that Keith or Ronnie are about to hit Q sharp diminshed 5th, instead of E, to have any concentration left for actually playing his part in the song. Would be pretty much the "Sway" of ABB tour.

"Child of the moon"

"Child of the moon"

"Child of the moon"

"Jiving Sister Fanny"

"Emotional rescue" - easily playable of every mother knows it and give Ron the bass! At least that's more of a realistic proposition then MT guesting on anything. Darryl can either sit it out as he's a hired hand or Ron and he could sit down and work out some some weaving and so on. Might lift Ron's interest rate in the work rate also.

"Heaven"

"No use in crying" - they ever played that live before? GrAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA888888888888888888888888 song.

"Sitting on a fence" would be a lot of fun and think the crowd would get into it.

"Parachute woman" - I know it was played on the RnR Circus but has it been played since? Greatest blues song ever.

"Citadel"

"2000 man"

"Miss you blues" - rework the mother inside out into a slinky style Chicago blues mother that has Jagger blowing and singing thru the harp the entire song. Keep it to 2 and a half minutes, lose the bridges and have Jagger basically whispering the song. Charlie just have a kick, snare and brushes, no 4 on the floor on B stage, Darryl with an upright reworking the bass line to be more blues influenced and Ron acoustic slide with Keith on acoustic geetar. I know I have more chance of my kitten Warlock speaking to me in Mandarin than this ever happening, but it's nice to dream.

Without a doubt, Out of Time and Child of The Moon and the poster above this one is right on with Sittin' on a Fence, 2000 Man, and his/her idea for Miss You would be fantastic...

`I know this question comes from the top, probably Mick needs help with the set list ( or Chuck)

First here are the tunes I want scratched from the board ASAP. The so called "time to get a beer songs"

Start Me Up - enough

You can't always get what you want - this song has sucked live for many years.

Live with me - plenty of better tunes out there that deserve to be play more.

You got me rocking - please how about a new new song.

Sympathy for the devil - Its sad to listen to Sympathy with Micks rhythm and Keith's Arthritis.

Brown Sugar - Needs a vacation.

Satisfaction - Should be retired.

I am sure missing a few but anyway here are my picks Mick: never before played tunes live. Please remember Mick that the Grateful Dead is the most successful touring band of all time, they have played to more people (off course they played more gigs than the stones) than any other band Mick, and they did it by playing different sets every night, playing covers, obscured tunes, jamming - all about musicianship Mick and yes they were a band that played for themselves not for the idiots that come to the shows just to listen to Satisfaction. Well I'll leave it there Mick here are my picks. By the way you destroyed "Following the River" but Nicky's piano is worth it.

Let is loose - This is like the lost arc of stones songs, I really don't know why this song hasn't seen a Stage. Shame.

Child of the moon - This song is on the border between psychedelia and the stones new found 68' renaissance. Awesome vibe.

Memo From Turner - Yes hard to play Cooder's slide, but this could be one Jagger's greatest vocal performances.

Casino Boogie - In this songs resides one the Stones greatest grooves ever. Its outtro ranks among the best ever.

Miss Amanda Jones - why not? Fun tune from a very underrated album.

I just want to see his face - Again another song from exile - this album should played entirely.

Coming Down Again - A Keith ballad forgotten in the Can.

I don't know why - Great Stevie wonder cover.. recorded the night Brian drowned. Great Slide guitar.

Emotional rescue - Shit I forgot to add Miss You as one the songs that should be taken out of circulation. I would love to hear Rescue man, I think its a better tune.

Down in the hole - Another lost gem. Stones blues at it finest.

Through the lonely nights - Probably the bands greatest B- Side never to be included on a album. This song its terrific and most underrated stones track.

In the end is about the music, must be boring to play the same songs for decades. For a band with such a bast mass of a catalog I can't comprehend why not reduce the ten mandatory warhorses to just five and a raise up your musical integrity and give us fans some refreshing music.

"100 Years Ago" was performed live in Vienna 1973. There is a bootleg called "100% Odds and Sods" that has a good recording of this song performance. Check it out you'll like it.

Lots of people have mentioned "Let It Loose" on their wishlist... I know it doesn't count as a show performance, but the bootleg "It's Only Rock'n'roll- Outtakes" by the Invasion Unlimited label has a good quality live version of Let It Loose taped during a soundcheck in Dallas July 1972. Well, the audio quality is great, the performance quality will depend on personal tastes. So if you really wanna hear a live version of that song from that era, thats one place you can find it. Hope this helps.

Correct....'Tops' was played at a few early 81 shows.

Parachute Woman was played on the Licks tour - at the Orpheum theatre gig in Boston. It was on the shortlist of songs considered for Live Licks too. Plus its also on Rock n Roll Circus.

This is the proper link to the songs theyve released but have never performed live : [rocksoff.org]..
