"They're translating the book".

Good grief - good luck with THAT! And I don't mean because it's going to be put into Norwegian, I'm guessing, rather that...it's gotta be hilarious because if things are spelled phonetically in the book in true Keith-isms, well... let me know how it comes out in English har har har har...

The book's being translated into the local languages of every territory they're releasing it in.
When it comes to translating English into Norwegian, the two languages are a little related and most people in Norway, at least those under 70 years of age, speak, write and understand English fairly well. That's how you have to act when your native language is far from a world language, you know. Ours is only spoken by 4,8 million people.
When it comes to the idioms and the "Keithisms", they'll both translate them into local idioms with the same meaning, and print the original "Keithism". It's actually the case with every little piece of litterature that's translated into another language. You have to make it work in the local idiomatic language.

I've only read two chapters so far, and I'd say it works very well. And finally - that it is a very good read indeed. But I wasn't expecting anything else. smileys with beer

if BV is translating it does that mean potential swear words will be censored?

Is Keith as funny in Norwegian?

This is interesting. Thanks Addicted for sharing it.

So they will release the book all around the globe with 'local' translations at the same time. I haven't heard anything of Finnish translation plan yet but then again, I don't have any "sources" in publishing companies, etc. so who knows. Of course, it could be also that Finnish translation is not included in the plan - generally translating rock music books is not very popular here (for example, the translation of Bob Dylan's CHRONICLES came months afterwards the original English edition. The same with IN ACCORDING TO THE ROLLING STONES.)

Anyway, taking all its preperations, it looks like that Keith's book will be a Big Event. Even without a tour, 2010 has turned to be a Big Stones Year. Me likes!

The translation is done by Jens Erik Røsåsen, and in Norwegian litterature we allow every dirty word you can think of.
The reason why BV's not too keen on seing swear words here in the forum, is that more and more people install filters to block out porn. And as we know, a lot of people check in at iorr while at work. Imagine the night shift without iorr, because the site's been blocked due to "too many words that indicate it could be porn"...
So, it's a really good idea, actually. You can skip the problem using a set of *** - as in "that f***ing ba***rd" - and we all know what you mean anyway. You can live with that, can't you?

Probably even funnier than in English.
However, I've only read two chapters. One of them's not at all funny, but very sad indeed. This book will definitely see "grown men cry". I'm considered to be quite tough, but I cried rivers.

If a Finnish publishing house has bought the rights to publish the book in Finland, I guarantee you it's being translated this very moment. It's one of the conditions the cooperating publising houses have to agree to, that they will release the book at exactly the same date - world wide.
It should be quite easy finding out if a local publishing house has bought the rights. Google it, Doxa. Good luck!
And btw: The book's great reading - at lest the two chapters I've read so far.

If your local bookstore doesn't have a special section for biographies - or music - I'd say it's worth shopping elsewhere. Like online? Amazon, you know.
And if you're indicating Keith's not telling the truth, I think yoou might want to reconsider that. After you've read it, at least.

Good morning Rockeeee!
Although I would very much like to share what I've read with all of you guys, I'm under contract to the publishing house and if I break the confidentiality they'll no doubt kick me and my company out of this project... And I don't want that to happen. There are plenty of others ready to step in, but I'm not going to let them! I was thrilled with this job and consider it a "heart project". Usually I do PR jobs for big companies who really don't mean a thing to me - except as clients. This one, however, is so different, because the Stones - and Keith in partidular - have meant so much to me since I was 6 years old. At almost 53, they still have a special place in my heart, you know.

And riffhard72 - are you Shallow Hal's baby brother?
Keith's telling the story of his life. If you think really hard - you'll know it's not only been sunshine. And when he wasn't looking to good, do you honestly think he was feeling real well? Oh, I know - that's a leading question.

Great! Hope to see you there! We'll try to have a special reception for iorr-people at the launch party. The very first copies of Keith's book will be sold to the crowd that night. I hope the print's had time to dry by then.

We are talking about the book here, not the CD where he reads the book himself. I'm sure you're able to spell your way through those 500 pages. Might take you some time, if you're used to phonetical spelling, but even that might be worth it...
And if you believe the myth that his speach is all blurry - the CD will be a big surprise for you.

You really "cried rivers"???
You really sobbed and cried uncontrollably with tears rolling down your cheeks??
You may have felt emotional and even welled up a little at some parts, but how could anyone cry rivers? Were you there? Are you related to the man?

Just a tad OTT in my humble opinion.
Does the phrase "matter of speach" mean anything to you. "crying rivers" - it's an idiom. It means that tears run down your face, but you're not necessarily creating a new river Thames.
You come across at one weird person. I could have used other words in stead of weird, but I think it's a waste of time.
