I have not heard the original Marvin Gaye version the Stones covered, but the opening guitar riff is near identical (in the Stones/VU versions).

Jagger also said in 1980 that the Stones nicked the melody for 'Stray Cat Blues' from 'Heroin'.

Cant really hear it myself, to be honest.
