too bad it didn't translate well to the stage
good for a small venue, but not the big arenas and amphitheaters that make up his mojo tour...Quote

That's disappointing. I would think this stuff was made for the stage. I could see them really fleshing it out live, Allman Brothers stye. Well, Allman's Lite maybe! What a missed opportunity for Mike Campbell.
At least it's a pretty hot album!

I just got my e-mail notification for the Mojo download and it is loading onto my laptop as I write!
Tod, I've been meaning to ask you about what you thought of the show. As it was my first Petty show I really dug it. The new stuff is bit of a departure for them and I admire them for taking a chance on new musical genre for them and playing the stuff live. As for me I thought they played new an old material really well. What was it that didn't work for you Tod?

This thread is inspiring me to go listen to my favorite TP song - Rebels.

With all respect, but this is typical american MOR sound, clean, poppy, no dirt. Nice, but that`s all. You easily can change the voice to Sprigsteen, even Bon Jovi or others.. That`s one reason why I love the Stones with all their rawness and non-perfection..
AS opposed to today's typical Brit pop crap you mean?Quote

CindyC, your song preference has brought shame upon us all. What were you thinking

This is almost worse than the shame I felt when you laughed and pointed the first time you saw me naked.

When I saw today in the record store that this disc comes in all cardboard packaging without any tray for the CD to sit in, I refused to buy it. If it comes out in a jewel case version, I'll buy it, because it's good music, but until then, I won't. The labels can keep their crappy ecopaks that scratch the CDs unlistenable in everyday use.
This won't be the first album I haven't bought because it came in that piece of expletive as packaging.

I hate when people have this attitude like the Stones are always raw and "non-perfect".
