Hello,

Absolutely, positively my last show of 2009 and a little different from my usual NYE malarkey.

This was a bit of opera for the unwashed, like me-unashamedly populist and all instantly recognisable and beautifully played by the Manchester Camerata led by their American conductor,Clark Rundell. It would have been difficult for this chap to have any more enthusiasm!

The set-list:

Verdi Overture to La forza del
destino

Verdi Aria, 'Caro nome' from
Rigoletto

Verdi Aria, 'La donne รจ mobile'
from Rigoletto

Mascagni Intermezzo from Cavalleria
Rusticana

Verdi Aria, 'Celeste Aida' from
Aida

Verdi Aria, 'Un di felice, eterea'
from La Traviata

Verdi Aria, 'E Strano!..Ah fors'e
lui' from La Traviata

Rossini Overture, William Tell
Verdi Prelude to Act 3 of La
Traviata

Bizet Prelude and Argonaise from
Carmen

Puccini Aria, 'O mio babbino caro'
from Gianni Schicchi

Puccini Aria, 'Nessun Dorma' from
Turandot

Verdi,'Brindisi' from La Traviata

Wood,Fantasia on British Sea Songs

Arne, Rule,Britannia

Parry,Jerusalem

Elgar,Pomp & Circumstance
March No.1

Don't worry-it didn't turn into 'Last Night Of The Proms'/Young Conservatives On Tour-in fact the Conductor made a nice dig about 'The Daily Mail'...always welcome,hah-hah!

Cheers and all good things for 2010.

Si.
