I'm not another H-A sycophant at all but you can clearly see in the Bill Owens still pic of the naked fat man of Altamont getting pool cue hammered to the ground, Tonys arms are both outstretched in a very brave effort to help. Split screen over to Gimme Shelter, you see Tony retreating from the same scene holding his arm. Later by nightfall, its in a splint.

Where did you hear that story? In Ethan Russell's Let It Bleed, Tony says he punched out TWO Hells Angels, but I don't remember him saying that he broke his arm doing so.

i believe he broke bones in his hand....not arm.
Don't believe everything you see in the GS movie as it's heavily edited/spliced.

I think in Spanish Tony's book, he said that Tony F. punched two Angels who wouldn't let them pass....

Stanley Booth mentions Tony's arm being in a splint but i don't recall him specifying exactly what he'd broken

I find it hard to believe based on what's clearly visible in the Bill Owens pic and the G-S clip as to the cause of the broken bone arm/hand whatever.
