All The Young Dudes is a favourite song of mine but I always hated that it kind of put the Stones down a bit. "My father's back at home with his Beatles and his Stones, he never got it off on that revolution stuff, what a drag"
We're talking about the early 70's here when looking back the Stones were at the very top of their game.
Good song though. (Mott The Hoople version)

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....

Borrowed Tune by Neil Young-

I'm singin' this borrowed tune
I took from the Rolling Stones,
Alone in this empty room
Too wasted to write my own.

1977 from The Clash put the stones down but it's a nice punk song!

IN 1977
YOU'RE ON THE NEVER NEVER
YOU THINK IT CAN'T GO ON FOREVER
BUT THE PAPERS SAY IT'S BETTER
I DON'T CARE 'COS I'M NOT ALL THERE
NO ELVIS, BEATLES OR THE ROLLING STONES
IN 1977.

I am also a big fan of The Smiths and of Morrissey. This post won't win them or me any new fans here, but in 1990 Morrissey wrote a song called, "Get Off The Stage"...with some very pointed words for Mick and the boys. Listen

here.

'Oh, you silly old man. You silly old man in your misguided trousers. The song you just sang, it sounds exactly like the last one. I know that you say how age has no meaning, but here is your audience now and they're screaming: 'Get off the stage!'?"

The irony of those lyrics detailed here.

"The Road" (1987) by The Kinks

"I started playing blues in a coffee bar
I took a trip down the Charing Cross Road
with my imitation Gretsch guitar
and a head full of songs and my eyes full of stars
I saw a band called The Rolling Stones
I said that's it, I'll get a band
I'm leaving home, I'm out on the road"

NRBQ - Hey Punkin Head

"Get Down / I don't mean Get Down like when Mick Jagger says Get Down / I mean Get Down / Before I Knock You Down"

Big Star - Thirteen:

"Won't you let me walk you home from school
Won't you let me meet you at the pool
Maybe Friday I can
get tickets for the dance
and I'll take you
Won't you tell your dad, "Get off my back"
Tell him what we said 'bout 'Paint It Black' "

and then there's Smoke on The Water, that mentions the Stones' mobile recording studio:

"We ended up at the Grand Hotel
It was empty cold and bare
But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside
Making our music there"

I used to think Ian Gillan sang "Rolling drunk Stones" till I listened to all the words...'truck' makes a lot more sense than 'drunk'!

The line is "My BROTHER'S back at home with his Beatles and his Stones". I once saw Ian Hunter do that song as a member of Ringo's All-Starr Band. Pretty cool moment when he sang that line with a Beatle onstage. Thought a big roar would go up from the crowd, but, oddly enough, no one seemed to "get" it.

Here comes Dolly Dagger
Her love's so heavy gonna make you stagger
Dolly Dagger, she drinks her blood from a jagged edge
Been riding broomsticks since she was fifteen
Blow out all the other witches on the scene
She got a bull whip just as long as your life
Her tongue can even scratch
The soul out of the devil's wife

YEah, I read somewhere that Hendrix and one of his girlfriends were at a party with Jagger and who knows else. Jagger somehow cut himself with a knife, and Hendrix's girlfriend licked Mick's blood off of the blade - that's where the line "Dolly Dagger, she drinks her blood from a jagged edge" comes from.
