Er ... it's possible you weren't feeling particularly well when you posed the question. Come on , get serious. A free concert here or there, perhaps. A free TOUR .... please !!

On 2nd thoughts - what a way to go out?

Okay, it couldn't all be free (never in a million year$) but a series of high-profile free gigs across the world as part of a tour would be a hell of a finale.

No...................but a one free farewell concert in London "2012" could be possible.

Apparently Rupert and Cohl once offered the Stones a billion dollars for a new tour.
Well, if they would just have given them half of it just like that, a free world tour would have been realistic.
Someone payed the band a nice amount to enable a fantastic free concert in Cuba, so it's all about sponsoring grinning smiley

The show in Rio Copacabana was free because they had sponsors including mobile phone providers and telecom business having a lot of extra transmitters etc from more than one million people messaging all day. Which makes millions of dollars in income.

You could charge $50 for a beer but I am not sure if everybody would drink 5-10 beers, so that method of making money would not work.

It is no problem to have a "free" show like Rio or Havana where a sponsor pay for the cost of crew, stage etc, but I don't think you will find a sponsor that would pay 10 million US dollars x 15 = 150 million US dollars, which is the gross ticket sales for a tour of 15 shows.

Yes, because we all love working for free! Do some folks not understand all the money that is fronted to do a tour the magnitude of The Rolling Stones?

Better than a free tour, I heard somewhere that Prince Rupert had been secretly investing all the money their fans have spent on concert tickets, albums and merchandise over the past 50 years in a private Swiss hedge fund and when they retire they are going to pay it all back with accumulated interest and dividends.

Well, a free tour or gig of the Stones - what would we expect?

A high class show like the late tours we have seen?

Or just a club gig with only some amps, 12 lights and 150 people?

Well, I'ld take any of these of course, as well as you would I bet.

But then, it really comes down to the band wanting it and us ... well ...we would run anywhere they play by the tousands and that really is the 'problem' maybe, as I see it.

They just can't play anywhere they like although they could, because of the rush that would ignite at any place and time.

So a free tour seems possible for me, but it's not very likely to get realised.

But what a wonderful idea and what a wonderful experience that would be!

SIGH!!! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
