About Sympathy for the devil at the 1969 US tour. Keith playing from the start of song to the beginning of solo.

In what tuning?

What notes does he play ?

Hello Lars. Keith used standard tuning on this song in the key of E. He starts out with a hammer on from F# to G# starting at the 10th fret of the A string. (You can do it elsewhere on the neck of course )followed in quick succession by F# to G# hammer on, B to C# to B hammer on/pull off. (This is all E off the E chord) That figure repeats 1 step down for the the D chord. Now see if you can get the transition to A. Figuring this stuff out yourself is some of the best training a musician can get. If you are using Windows media player you slow down a digital recording by 1/2 using the play speed feature.
