Anyone who grew up in LA in the '60's and experienced all that PAIN inflicted by the Celtics would never believe this could possibly happen: Can the Lakers catch the Celtics in championships in my lifetime? It's on my bucket list.
BTW: I was at the great Russell's last game at the Forum in '70. Very intense game. And very painful. A furious Laker rally falls short, again. After the game a friend and I were down on floor level. It was chaos. Suddenly, through the crowd appeared the great Jerry West, leaving the floor. His face was ashen, the look of shock and despair. I couldn't even bring myself to acknowledge him or say Hi. I will never forget the look on his face.
I went to High School with a kid whose Mom attacked Auerbach with shaving cream or some such thing. At the time Auerbach was the best reason to have a No Smoking sign inside the arena.

Sounds like some sour grapes from the Boston naysayers...
The Celtics have 17 titles, and the Lakers have 16 titles.
Moving the organization from one town to another doesn't make a difference.
Just ask the the official NBA historians and statisticians!
I predict the Lakers will tie the record next year, and then surpass it the year after.

Finally over! Basketball's gotta have the longest season in sports.
When does the new season start? August?

It was a disheartening end to what I had hoped would be yet another stumping of Kobe. I can't stand that man - if ever there was a pompous, arrogant, overrated MoFo it's got to be him. He's such a ball hog. That's what I love about this Celtics team, and what has actually helped to restore my love for the NBA, a sport I've not watched since Larry Bird, McHale, Parrish, and the rest retired. It got faaaaaaaar too greedy and overrun with punks, but Allen, Garnett, Pierce, Rondo, Robinson, T. Allen, Davis - they're all team players, and most of them put their faith in God, which is very refreshing these days, especially in a sport so wrought with accumulating as much wealth as possible. And Doc Rivers is a real class act as a coach. I love that guy and I love the Celtics - I'm glad that I have a chance to finally root for them again. I wish the outcome had been different, but it's just great to have a class act team in the NBA like the UConn Women's Basketball team and MOST of the Yankees. Great effort, C's - sorry the pay-off wasn't there.
And for the record, come on, guys - fess up to the fact that the Lakers are only 1 Championship behind now, as much as it pains me to type that.
