SYNOPSIS

The Rolling Stones' frontman hand-picks a selection of artists and music that influenced the band's ground-breaking sound, in particular their classic album Exile On Main St. In conversation with Paul Sexton, Mick talks through a wide-ranging playlist that reflects his own, and the band's, love of classic R&B, gospel, country and reggae.
The fascinating mix of material conjures up the musical environment of the late 60s and turn of the 70s, in which the Stones, and so many of their peers, were scaling new and ever more eclectic creative heights. In a show that includes both vintage hits and lesser-known gems, we'll find out which of the band's fellow rock acts from that era have Jagger's personal seal of approval. We'll also hear some brilliant soul records that have remained his all-time favourites; plus singer-songwriters; giants of country and Americana; and much more besides.
Jagger's Jukebox follows closely behind the documentary Exile Of The Stones, which told the story behind the Rolling Stones' 1972 album.

Thanks Deltics, fast work, I just listened live on Radio 2 , tried to get my sky+ to record it but was unable ,listened to it on the car radio instead.
Having failed to record this, I some how doubt I will be able to record the 1964 gig thats on BBC6 on Wednesday morning 4AM, was therefore intendin to listen on iplayer later on.
I don't know how you get stuff off iplayer, so was wondering if you are planning to post that show as well, odd thing technology years ago would have used a cassette tape ,now we have digital radio and no sodding way to capture or time record it.

At least a list with normal hit songs instead of mention always those old blues guys

Can I say that Jagger is not only the top rock'n roller alive, but also picks a hell of a song list. That is golden.
It's funny: "The Clean-up Woman"; anyone remember Jagger onstage going "I am the clean-up woman.."?

Most of those songs are not only personal favourites of mine but in some cases (especially the ones by Donny Hathaway, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Maytals, Curtis Mayfield etc) songs you never hear on the radio anymore. A terrific couple of hours listening to that.

And thanks to Deltics for uploading it so I can hear it again any time I want.

Hi Green Lady, I used to use my DVD recorder just as you do, but since the Sky+ system was installed the DVD recorder no longer works in conjunction with it ,very frustrating, I can't get the stuff I recorded off there on DVD either.

You should be able to record Radio on your Sky+ system.

You need to select a start and end time for the recording rather than adding a show to the planner, but it does work for me - I just have no way of retreiving the show other than for playback on my TV.

Deltics, thanks for the great work.

I was very surprised to hear Led Zeppelin in there as I thought Keith really disliked them. If they were listening to Bob Marley in 71 then that's really hip because he wasn't a big noise outside of Jamaica until 73. The Kinks' Lola was another surprise - I've never heard the Stones talk about The Muswell Hillbillies before.

Anyone else think of this with the thread's title??
