How do these sales compare to A Bigger Bang?

I personally gave up on tracking sales since I came to the realization that most new music today sucks.

Isn't that what my parents, and grandparents said 30 and 50 years ago? Yes, but now it is 100% TRUE.

You cannot judge the merit of an album on sales - not one bit.

Just an example - I was in NY last year.
Did I see record stores? Barely not, just some bookstores with music inluded.
No Virgin Mega Store, HMV, FNAC etc. - so that's the big difference today compared to 5 years ago or more!!

ABB sold much better, about 3 million copies worldwide, but that was 5 years ago.
Nowadays, a Gold record is a success, even albums hyped to death on the radio and tv are struggling to pass the million mark.

#2 to # 7 isnt a 'huge' drop in the soundscan era. I recall many titles that debuted at # 1 dropping out of the top 10 in second week, and top 10 debuts that have seen truly dramatic drops the following week, i.e. various Prince albums post '95.

It went 2-7-21-33 so far, it could climb this week with the father's day push.
