A good songwriter, if maybe not a great one. Okay, definitely not a great one. But he could churn out some fine pop numbers in his day. I still remember Mick's remark in the late 90's, when asked if he felt jealous of Liam - he said something to the effect of "No, I'd hate to be in a band where my brother was the one with all of the talent".

It's a game. He will return in a before the next tour and they will make even MORE money. Marketing, that's what counts.

Here is the shot I took of the giant screen at Rock en Seine Parisian festival few minutes before the beginnig of the show. The promoter also gave the cancelling message in english by microphone.

Saying : "following a fight in the band, the Oasis concert is cancelled"

I really can't believe they're still around at all. It's speaks to the dismall state of pop music these days.

Noel dropped the ball after his second album and never picked it back up. I suspect Liam will keep Oasis alive. Maybe Noel will do a decent solo album. He can sing too.

Drat,

I'd quite liked to have seen them. O well never mind. No great loss, can live without.

Let's hope it's for good this time.

And let's really hope they never get back together. Suddenly the music world just improved bombastically.

Great band, good last CD too, like it much better than SW, VL and BtB
Saw them live this year for the first time and enjoyed a lot.

"Let's hope it's for good this time.

Explain why?

You want less guitar bands?

Ever bought one of their albums or been to a gig?

Let me guess, the Stones are the only band around and can't be beat???

I for one think they can be superb and at least bring some fun, interest and Rock N Roll to modern music.

Since Blur reformed and split again this means that the Brit Pop era is finally dead.

oasis are pysh and apart from 2 or 3 good songs always have been.

the gallagher brothers are arrogant tubes and they are so overrated.

they once boasted of being the stones of the 90,s.

and once compared themeselves favourably with take that, anyone who has to boast of being better than take that cannot be taken seriously.

As the last of the truly great bands, they will be sorely missed.

Sadly, we must stand aside now for the Girls Aloud/Take That generation of music where all gigs/productions sound more or less the same; backing tapes, choreographed moves, scripted banter, computerised lighting etc.

I saw it last week whilst watching U2 in Sheffield; fantastic show, great songs and amazing sound, but without a single ounce of soul.

Oasis needed no glitz or glimmer; they gave it to you straight, and didn't give a monkey's toss whether you liked them or not.

...unlike so many.

A fan of Take That criticising Oasis!

Yes, I must admit, Noel's dancing was pretty crap!

Talking about prefessionalism.

Noel gives a good interview though. He's a good talker; better than player. He should use his name and produce, or get a radio show on the waves.

I don't think any of them have ANY chance solo. Noel isn't a frontman. And when was the last time he wrote a memorable song?

Liam has gone the rapper route and become a clothier (!), which won't work. He'll get another band together and it'll be like Oasis. And bomb.

Here's what I predict: the G brothers will reunite for a mega tour in 2014 (for the twentieth anniversary of Definitely Maybe), possibly with the original players. They'll play Definitely Maybe in its entirety. A bunch of fat ageing blokes will cry over their bloated bellies.

Amazing how many brother acts end up with the siblings hating each other.

Off the top of my head, Angus and Malcolm Young are about the only exception to this generally applicable rule I can think of at the moment.

I actually laughed and cheered when I heard this news about Oasis...I never did like them; if I want to listen to the Beatles, I'll listen to the Beatles, thanks- not some snotnosed bratassed imitation! Of course, the musical cynic in me is certain that a year from now the Gallaghers will have kissed and made up and will be right back at it. Place yer bets, people.

Oh sure they will. They're family. They've actually had worse bust ups. I think Noel just had enough. I think they'll reform alright .... in 2014 for the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.

Chris & Rich Robinson got their act together again - didn't they?
I don't cheer when these things happen - on the other hand I don't care much about Oasis.

maybe they needed a break - no wait, definitly they needed it!
