There will be efforts to push the new DVD-"Stones in Exile"--and so push the cd-s!

Die Fantastischen Vier erklimmen Spitze
Baden-Baden (RPO).

i think its great for the Stones. Think, next week they will climb the no.1

While #3 is great, do you think it will actually climb? If memory serves, what has happened a lot in the last couple of decades, is that the Stones enter the charts at the peak, and wind their way down from there.

Not to throw cold water on your idea, but without a 'hit single' or some other reason for people to buy the album over the next few weeks, I think all the pent up demand will be exhausted in the first week.

Does anyone disagree with that?

No chance its going to the top this time. "Lena" is far too popular at the moment and the "Fantastischen 4" are, too. Both have lots of airplay whereas the Stones have almost none.

Well, the release for that is in the latter part of June...if there is any effect, it will be minor and maybe cause it to jump back into the top 100 for more two weeks.

In France, the wholesaler Fnac represents a good share of the market. In the pop-rock section, Exile is listed as # 1. I suppose, this translates into a good position countrywide.

When does the actual chart come out for France. I believe it is noon tomorrow EST for Billboard in the US (and presumably Canada).

A suivre...

In terms of chart position, yes. Without a doubt.

Maybe not so much sales wise.

31,000 units sold in the UK would be equivalent to over 150,000 in the US.

All the TV promotion for the album was done in the US, so whilst I'm surprised that sales have been so good overall to begin with, I'd have thought that they'd have shifted more copies in the US (per head of population) than everywhere else.

"31,000 units sold in the UK would be equivalent to over 150,000 in the US."

Yes Gazza, but by the look of it, album sales in the US are droping off dramatically these days . Could we talk about real equivalence between US market and UK market? I don't know. A few years ago, an album selling 76,000 copies would be on the tighr rope, on the limit - "in" or "out" Billboard's Top 10. Now 76,000 do offer No 2.

Anyway, just saw Global Chart. This week No 1 album has sold 149,000 copies. Only UK + Us sales of "Exile" is 107,000. "Glee" did strong sales for the nowadays measures in the US, but what about the rest of the planet? Georgelicks, what do you think? Is "Exile" on the way to a Global No 1 ?

A Global number 1 would be a nice 'consolation prize', wouldn't it.

Looking at last week's chart, very fractured. Bieber as number one I wouldn't think would hold...GLEE, not outside US/Canada, so there may be a good chance!

A global number one is more than a consolation prize as far as I'm concerned - it's what matters most!

I was being completely facetious....that's why I put the word 'consolation' in quotes.

We get so 'anxious' with what happens in the US....World Sales should really be the most important yardstick.

In reality they sold 91k copies of Exile. They hold the #2 position on the charts as well as the #27 position.

They would have had the #1 record on the charts last week. Not bad for a 40 year old album that already spent 4 wks at #1.

EXILE NUMBER 1 THIS WEEK IN USA!!!

in the "catalogue albums" category.

In Rock Albums, I see the 'Rarities' disc charting #7

How it is possible for the Rarities disc to chart, and not the deluxe version, is beyond my simple comprehension.

I also don't see a listing for Canada, although they may just have been slow to post.

#1 Worldwide with 164,000 copies sold

#2 in Europe

#3 in Canada (with Catalog albums included)

EXCELLENT! I shouldn't care, but for some reason I do!

NUMBER 1 in the world...this is the most important sales stat!

Let's see if there is any stamina to those old legs...I wonder what it will look like next week?
