I agree, but for different reasons. Sweet Neo Con is a great song because at least they are caring about something other than women! This the stones I love. They shock and anger with a blues edge. Really, the harp, guitars, and snaking rhythm are quintessential stones. More like this would have added more of an edge to ABB.

we're kind of saying the same thing..it's sophistication really lies in its assumed simplicity...it's ironic on so many levels..

I am going to defend two songs listed

Sparks Will Fly - because the music is the best thing on Voodoo Lounge - rocks way better than Love Is Strong or You Got Me Rocking. Sure that one line will make some people cringe but I love the groove.

Sweet Neo Con - I understand why people don't like it but it is different from all other Stones songs in that it is the most pointed lyric in any Stones song. I love it when Mick sings "I think you are a crock of shit" - it's very Bill Maher-ish. Pulls no punches.

Furthermore the negative reaction on this board to A Bigger Bang mystifies me. Of the three studio records they've made since Wyman left, I think ABB is the only keeper.

The most embarassing Stones song,of course, is Sex Drive. Their most embarassing recording is their cover of My Girl.

Sex Drive is not bad at all IMO. The worst line ever in a Stones tune might be - "The moon is yellow but I'm like jello
Staring down your tits" from Oh No, Not You Again.

it's amazing how bad some of their songs can be, specifically this one! i'm also not a fan of Back To Zero and Neocon.

Other funky songs like Suck On the Jugular and Sex Drive are almost as bad. (Not saying I don't like funky songs... i love Fingerprint File, for example)
