Songs The Stones Shouldn't Play On The Next Tour
Posted by: skipstone ()
Date: May 15, 2009 01:20

This was inspired by the Rocks Off comments...and of course we don't really know if there is gonna be another tour but since they always seem to gear it up...

In no particular order nor are these all that I can think of, of course, and I'm only sticking to songs that we know they play live, either too much or that I don't like or am just tired of hearing, etc...:

Rocks Off
Beast Of Burden
Start Me Up
Satisfaction
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Tumbling Dice
Ruby Tuesday
Angie
Sympathy For The Devil
Happy
Connection
I'm Free
Dead Flowers
Honky Tonk Women
Streets Of Love
Miss You
Undercover Of The Night
Respectable
It's Only Rock'N'Roll
You Got Me Rocking
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)
Live With Me
Bitch
Love Is Strong
Sparks Will Fly

Just off the top of my head. I'll make some popcorn...

Superb, so what do you suggest? B-sides in chronological order?

Rare outakes that a few 'diehards' have heard of?

Songs by Sinatra in Acapella??

Pretty airtight list. A few more:

Wild Horses
Like A Rolling Stone
Rain Fall Down
Paint it Black

Only two requests :

1) Play what THEY want to play, not what Mick thinks the tourists and corporates DEMAND they they should play.

2) Play them competently.

Yes and do not throw a new song on-stage only after playing it maybe once or twice at a soundcheck. I can't stand hearing songs that are still very much undercooked.

They can play whatever they want to - if they really WANT to
However....I doubt they're too excited about some of the warhorses they "have to" force their way through - because of the 40licks-fans and Cohl....meaning 70% of the setlist. But if I'm incorrect - and they really enjoy the never-ending-chorus of Brown Sugar, the keyboard-version of SFTD, the standard singalong JJF, the "scary" Paint It Black....etc.....then; of course they're welcome to do so. But I won't be present....because I think they don't know what they want to, themselves, if so

This doesn't just apply to new songs. Don't get all the diehards drooling with anticipation because you're going to play a rare song, and then produce something so under-rehearsed that it would be better if you'd never resurrected it.

just a bit of sarcasm on my part, it was fine most nights but i really think if mick would have howled those vocals anywhere near the album version it would have been fantastic

All of them are great live, ith the exeption of HTW and SFTD. They've been a tad tired since B2B. All the rest are way cool and thumbs up. And if JJF isn't played compentently, nothing is.

Sorry i can't understand some of you guys, the Stones are the stones, i love them for that reason and it's how they play the songs and the sound of them as a band that i like. Let them play what they like without complaining.
