In terms of software testing, "beta" is the second phase of testing, usually public, which follows internal "alpha" testing...

"beta" = "early"

Second listen...hey, wait a sec...that track 19, Jumpin' Jack Flash (3:52)...full vocals...I don't recall having heard that before...I can't find it in my collection anyway.
The JJF I (Backing track, 3:52) is well-known (can be found on e.g. Time Trip Volume 4)...but this is with complete vocal...[Download]

track 19, Jumpin' Jack Flash (3:52) full vocals is the promo video soundtrack, officially released on ABKCO Singles Bonus DVD, and probably copied from it.

Anyone else notice the JJF posted above is in Bb not B. It's also got the tape wow @ the 39sec mark, you can hear it on the 'all' of 'it's allright' on the first chorus

alimente, thank you very much for the info!

I never got that Singles 1968-1971 box set...new to me that the JJF bonus video soundtrack is different to the well-known "make-up/no make-up" promo film versions.

Yes, I was quite surprised too at the time. I expected the "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" promo video version, was quite disappointed while listening to the first seconds, but when the vocals started I nearly fell from my stool (so to speak).

While this is obviously the same backing track as the official version, it runs a bit longer with the organ outro and has a totally different lead vocal track.

Whether it is a "real" outtake with an (earlier) vocal track or a special version produced for the promo video is open for discussion.

I'll go for a "real" outtake...the TV promo versions (make-up & no make-up) have as you mention this "Yeah, Yeah" intro...vocals specially recorded for the TV promo session.
Here is the well-known backing track (3:52, same long organ outro) [Download]

alimente, thanks again for your info! - this really was a treat to discover!

Is there a chance to put this CD on a tracker (RO, HC...)?

This version of JJF has been on dozens of releases over the years( I first heard it on "Beautiful Delilah" LP in 1973 or 74)

Well, sure shot my mouth off that time!! I know it was on the Vinyl boots "Beautiful Delilah"., The 3 lp "Black Box" Album, the VINYL release of "Beggars Breakfeast". On cd I'm pretty sure its included in the Invasion Unlimited series of outs releases but cant remember which one deals with this period. I know its on Torn & Frayed label "Mentholated Sandwich"(in pretty decent quality)Mickboy Beggars rmstr. I think you can still d/l it here from Edmund.
I may have exagerrated a bit about "dozens" but my point is this version has been around for at least 30 years or so! I"m sure others here can remember it!

scottkeef, I'm sorry to inform you that you are wrong!

Your list of old bootleg albums are all very right...if we are talking the TV promo version of 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'...where Mick sings the "Yeah, Yeah" intro - but we are not! - we are talking about a different vocal track on a well-known backing track.

Please take a listen one more time and tell me what you hear.

Yeah, I was gonna say I used to have the Beautiful Delilah lp and it was definitely the TV promo version. Always thought it was cool that the Flamin' Groovies based their version (recorded in '71) vocally on that one. I heard it first and thought, cool vocals, then got Beautiful Delilah, heard that version and thought, "ah, they lifted those 'yeah, yeah''s straight from this". But I'm intrigued for sure, because that's the only alternate vocal I know of.

My bad, Live. I totally misunderstood. Anyway, I went back and looked at both previously released promos(painted faces and non painted) with the "Yeah,Yeah" intro and both lasted approx 3 min. Then I dug out the promo dvd that came with the singles set(dont know why I didnt think of it before!) and the performance DOES run 3:52 with "standard intro vocal". I've had this promo dvd for a long time but I never paid enough attention to compare it to the previous versions.
After looking more closely on the original promo there is a noticable video splice right after the last chorus where Mick and Keith both jump positions slightly and the singles promo dvd of course keeps going. So would this splice on the earlier version mean that the 3:52 version WAS the original?

The new version was already circulating among collectors for
years but in very poor sound quality. Source is John Peel's
BBC radio show Top Gear. Jagger and Jones were guests on Peel's show,
they were in his studio to plug their new single and probably brought
a tape or acetate with this different lead vocal along.
Don't know if they played this early vocal mix on purpose
because of english music unions rules or Top Gear being a
vehicle for music especially recorded for this show (or BBC).
