My list changes daily, but I'll give it a shot (in no particular order)...

Mick Jagger (particularly up until 1967)
Jerry Lee Lewis (whose voice peaked during 1969-1972)
Eric Burdon (a very overlooked singer these days!)
Allan Clarke (of The Hollies, the greatest POP singer of all time!)
Mike Smith (of DC5)
P.J. Proby (undoubtedly the most versatile singer I've ever heard!)
Hank Williams (a limited vocalist but what a feeling!)
John Lennon (only really up until 1966)
Little Richard (without whom...)
Noddy Holder (forget Robert Plant!)

Good to see some appreciation for Eric Burdon today! : )

If I had to choose another artist from the pre-rock era (besides Hank Williams) then it would have to be Al Jolson...seriously!
