A store called Al Bums on the corner of Chandler St and Park Ave in Worcester , Ma . A guy I went to high school with opened it soon after we graduated and he had several bootleg LPs that I had never seen or heard of
Nothing like that mural of "Al" smoking his cigar amongst stacks of LPS! Al Bums was a fixture for me during high school -- but it was the Rte. 9 Shrewsbury location. I remember weekly bike rides (pre-license) with my friend Cliff. That's where we each bought our used Stones, Beatles, and Bowie vinyl with our summer job money. A guy named Chuck worked there - younger skinny guy with glasses. It would be a very long list of boots I bought at "Bums'" I'm pretty sure "Claudine" on Dead Spider records was the first one I put down my own cash for.Back when a bootleg LP cost you all of $8.
Thanks for bringing up "Bums'"
