Jim Price?

I realize this will not be one of those 10 page threads, but what is the take on Jim Price? In the Keys/Price duo he gets second billing. Bobby always got the solos, and Price was replaced after a while in the Stones while Bobby is still there. But Price played several instruments, and I read that he usually wrote the arrangements. The "Exile" arrangments are good.

I always LOVE that clip. I love the way Madaio shakes it up there in the beginning.

What was the reason he didn't tour with them on Europe 73? I have never found any information about that. Was he forced out for some reason, or did he choose to leave?

Was not Bobby Keys booted from this tour as well? Does that have anything to do with it?

You are right, he was, I think when he drank champagne out of a bathtub (could be wrong).

However, Price wasn't on the tour in the first place, and I have never heard anyone say why he wasn't on it.

I read that for T&F he was just noodling around, alone off in a room somewhere. He didn't even know he was audible, let alone plugged into the red light.

I notice that we still haven';t found out much about him. The few musical highlights with the Stones we all know about.
But the man played with Delany & Bonnie, Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Harrison's "All Things Must Pass", and toured on the Stones' wildest tours.
And we have no stories about him, or BY him?
Where did Jim Horn fit into the picture?

He had a website until last year, but it's gone?

Keys filled and drank a bath tub with champagne in the Rotterdam Hilton, and was fired after the shows. Both Price and Nicky Hopkins did not tour with the Stones in '73 due to health reasons, partly related with substance abuse.

Last what I heard about him was that he's is working in the TV/movie business.

I think the most recent photo I have seen of him was from the late 70's or so. Looks like he dissappeared from the face of earth or at least out of the public eye.

Here's his official My Space page: www.myspace.com/jimprice
Seems like the site is on hiatus since it wasn't updated since 10/2009.

Hope he is alive and well.

Did that not happen in Switzerland? I remember reading it that he had to stay at a hotel in Switzerland and decided to fill the bath tub with Champagne and the lady from the reception - he then saw how much it cost on the next day and realized he had spent his whole salary on that sparkling bath...
