Down Under Bands

Triffids
Sleepy Jackson
Powderfinger
Drones
Church

Any opinions on them?

Triffids I always thought were overratted, had fun heckling them at a drunken gig back in the 80's smiling smiley. The Drones are powerful and good songwriters I would like to see them live, a bit gloomy if your in a down mood though. The Church were (are?) a great band, Marty Wilson Piper is a killer guitar player, some of their best music now suffers because of the horrible production values in the 80's. Under The Milky Way should be the Australian national anthem.
Powderfinger and Sleepy Jackson I never heard.

I was hoping you would check in here Rockman. I am aware of the Loved Ones but have had a hard time finding anything by them. Only thing I have from them is a live album. I would love to get their "official" album.
I got to say I like Down Under bands. Not stuff like Midnight Oil or Men at work but Rose Tattoo was good. Then those acts I mentioned up there. Sleepy Jackson I like a lot. Church CAN be a whole lot better than the relatively mellow 80's chorused guitar sound. I have many of their titles.
I am just trying to find more.
Sweden and Australia are two countries that put out great bands.

The Angels are the best Aussie band. Listening to them right now. Pitty they never cracked it overseas. Musically much more versatile and interesting than AC/DC but just never got the big break in the States. Still touring so do yourself a favour......

Dragon and Mi.Sex..Crowded House..to name a few great New Zealand bands here in the 70s 80s and 90s the usual story they make it big here then move to Australia and become even bigger...which I can understand ya just dont have the big numbers in population here. Then Australians claim them to be theirs.. Great bands out of Australia The Angels..INXS..ACDC..Cold Chisel..Icehouse.. the list just goes on.

Can't believe no one's mentioned The Church.

I'm sure Rockman loves these guys - The Masters Apprentices. Was looking for War Or Hands Of Time but this r'n'b classic will do.

And some Absolute total garage rock from one of the best bands of all time. Buckle up for this one. Book him Dano.

Top tenning here with The Saints. One of the first punk singles.
