If you look at consecutive albums which were just ok by Stones standards (I like every one they've ever made, buy you know what I'm saying) you can create some pretty great records.

You can also take the voodoo lounge album and it's b sides, Wandering Spirit and Main Offender and create the best Stones album in 29 years! Mix and match the 12 you think are best and see what I mean.

to me, Undercover fits more into the Some Girls era. It was recorded in the same studio in Paris, whereas Dirty Work was done in NY.

I agree - Undercover feels like it is part of the Paris vibe still. Maybe it is in the lead vocals but DW already has the late period feel.
