It is neither good nor total turkey. After Some Girls, for me Emotional Rescue was a disapointing album. After Tattoo You, I felt a bit disappointed when Undercover came out. At the time, I felt that Dirty Works was slightly better than Undercover but not entirely convincing as Some Girls and Tattoo You.

All in all, its one of those albums with a couple of good tracks, but also stuff that leaves me stone-cold. As such, it does not rank high in my list of favourite Stones albums.

It's a ron/keith album and so love it.

I take "I got my own album to do" for that loving.

I wouldn't call it a turkey and I don't think it was good. As others have said, choosing a cover version for the single sums up what they thought of the stuff they wrote.

Undercover, DW and SW need to be re-recorded!!!!!!!!!!! There are some gems in them. 80's production made them fail.

Take the best twelve songs between Undercover, Dirty Work and Steel Wheels and you've got a pretty solid album. Off the top of my head, something like...

One Hit
Undercover
She Was Hot
Wanna Hold You
Mixed Emotions
Harlem Souffle
Too Much Blood
Sad Sad Sad
Almost Hear You Sigh
Pretty Beat Up
Continental Drift
Slipping Away

I´d like to add Feel On Baby.

Did not know that Winning Ugly was considered to be the trailer/first single. That would have been a disaster! The subject matter of that song is ridiculous.

Do recall reading that the working title for the album was Too Rude. I guess that gives an obvious nod to who was doing all the work.

Agree. The first Ron Wood solo album is a better "Stones" album than DW, or Undercover for that matter.

This RW's album is much better than almost everything since Tatoo You

I think the song "Dirty Work" should be added to that list.

Nice rocking weave.

Keith did a good job with Too Rude and Sleep Tonite.

But on the whole, the writing sucks. Seems just lazy or they just didn't care and needed to get something out contractually.

Even Charlie's drumming lacks. I have often wondered if he is even playing on some parts or did they just use a machine.

This was the first time I bought a Stones album and thought I it was a waste. (And unfortunately got a chance to repeat that experience a couple of times after that in the 90s).
