The first Glimmer TWINS ?

I seem to remember along time ago reading somewhere (thinking it was in 'NickyFitz's' book) that Brian supposedly dressed identical to Mick to piss Mick off. And supposedly it worked too... but don't know if this is true or not.

"Doctor please, some more men please,
To Cotchford Farm, out by the pool...

What a drag it is they couldn't revive him"

i don't know who took the first two, sorry.

the shiny happy 1967 shot is always credited to the Michael Ochs Archives, but Ochs is a historian/collector,
not a photographer. his collection's great, obviously, but i sure wish he didn't keep the photo credits a secret.

the may 1969 Ethan Russell shot is by Ethan Russell - were you just checking to see if anyone's paying attention? :E
(actually Russell's said that session was in late 68, but Bill seems sure it was may 69)

is the one of Charlie on the burro by David Bailey? i'm not sure.

Hiro was the photographer for that Black & Blue photo shoot. you've got the photo reversed, though
(i reckon that's how you found it in your source, but ... well, it's reversed nonetheless)

fixed now - thanks Honestman

Honestman, if you could go back and edit your post to put the credits in,
that'll be easier for people who want to save the credits along with the photos.
thanks for thinking about it ... and for all the fascinating shots

thanks for adding the credits, Honestman - and for the question mark about that first one.
it does of course resemble some shots Philip Townsend took, and maybe it is his,
but this one looks like 1964, and Townsend's "iconic" Chelsea-Embankment session was in may 63
and was all black & white, wasn't it? a lot of other Stones photographers went for that same ambience when they shot the Stones -
there was a thread about that around here a while ago - let me see if i can find it ...

ah here it is: [www.iorr.org]

Two from the book "The Stones In The Park: The Summer of 69 and the making of the Greatest Rock and Roll Band In The World" which I've recently bought:

Alas, although this book has lots of pictures that are new to me, it gives no credits to individual photographers. Anyway, we can be certain that Michael Cooper didn't take this one - here he is with Brian at Heathrow in August 1967:

and here is Brian backstage at the London Palladium on 22nd January 1967:

Both pictures slightly cropped - I'm going to have to buy an A3 scanner!

Thanks GREEN LADY , I don't own yet this book , does it worth, I think so but
need your opinion...

200 pages, concentrating on the events of summer 1969 - Brian's departure & death, the Hyde Park concert, Brian's funeral, the shooting of Ned Kelly - the Mirrorpix archive (Daily Mirror) is credited and a lot of the pictures I haven't seen before look like good press photographs (maybe that's why no individual credits). Nice quality of photo reproduction in a nice big format (10" x 10" or about 25 x 25 cm) which as I've noted above is just too big to fit my A4 scanner. Lots of double spread photos too.

I haven't read all the text yet but I've already spotted a couple of things that look like inaccuracies to me.

1) The band is said to have been told about the problems happening at Altmont before they left their downtown hotel, and "Keith was all for not showing up, but he eventually went". Not only does this sound out of character, but I always thought that Keith spent the night on site at Altamont and therefore never went back to the hotel...

2) On first reading, the text appeared to say that the Beatles had given the Stones "I Wanna Be Your Man" before they ever came to see them at the Crawdaddy - on second reading this may be just poor editing.

Verdict so far: very good for pictures - text, could do better.
