Ronnie should go ahead with the tour he wanted to do without Rod Stewart anyway.

Check this out:

Ian MacLaghan - keyboards
Kenny Jones - drums
Ronnie Wood - guitar
rotating vocals

and

FLEA on bass

Let's face it - Flea doesn't have a damned thing to do now that Frusciante quit the RHCP. What do you say, kids, they could play all kinds of stuff! It would be like the Stones but better. You know, like rock and roll was meant to be. Get in there Ronnie! I'd buy a ticket for that.

My bet's on Mick Hucknall handling the vocals, if they decide to tour, that is.

Good one. And Bobby Keys on sax. Done deal.

It would be great to see Keith step out and we could see if he can hack it guitar wise. Maybe he would really work at it to be at the top of his game.

Well my revelations come after chatting online with one of the members of the band, whom I am not saying who it is. The musician has revealed something brewing with the Winos. I ma not trying to stir shit up, repeat, I am not trying to stir shit.
KEITH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you repeat that one more time please?

yep - and i'll ask the question again - is there any evidence at all that keith has even picked up a guitar the past two years? i think the real reason the stones are toast is that the man can't do it no mo'...

I agree with that and it makes me so sad. The only guy who maybe saw Keith with a guitar (and we're not even sure about it) in the past two years is Jack White. A lot of people here point Ronnie as being the problem number 1, but what about Keith? In 2007, he seemed to be such in a bad shape some nights. After 2 years more, how is he?

not trying to be a wet blanket, but as a person who lives with someone with a bad case of degenerative arthritis, i just can't imagine keith is capable of playing an instrument so demanding of the fingers, like a guitar. keith seems like a proud fellow and it wouldn't surprise me if he's having difficulty coming to grips (no pun intended) with his sitch nor the obvious implications it has on the joy of his life, the stones....

..other than finish the album he's been making with the band for the last couple of months and which is due for release in the second half of this year...

Flea was never going to be the replacament bassist with the Faces. Ian McLagan already confirmed last year that story was rubbish.

That was before Frusciante quit the band. And Flea said he wanted to play live. Two and two is still four. Dude.

I think the decision that he wasnt being considered as a bassist for the Faces was taken by the band themselves. And Flea would still have a lot of recording commitments in coming months, I would think.

Cant imagine a Faces tour any time in the next few months though what with Ronnie being in the state he is...wouldnt you agree?

Frusciante quit the band over a year ago by all accounts. It just wasnt confirmed publicly until a few weeks ago.

Pity. Not familiar with the new guy, but he'll be very hard to replace.

Hey Loudei, I had an inside source about a Winos tour last year starting in August.

Remember? I only posted about it, which obviously I should not have done - but shit, man - I was excited!, because the word I got was from a friend who I've played and recorded with and he knows someone in the Winos.

Then it was laid on me that I screwed it up somehow. At least it seemed that way. Which I call bullshit on. A total load of bollocks that one.

So there are two different sources. There must be something going on.

I've always had a feeling the Winos will come together at least one more time.

keith HAS cut tracks with some of the winos. He has also cut tracks with members of the winos several times over the last few years. He DOES NOT have the chops, the volition or the need to front a band for even a limited tour. get real.

What makes you think playing the piano is any easier on his fingers than playing guitar?

Exactly right.

Not to mention the fact that as he seemed unable (presumably for medical reasons) to play guitar and sing at the same time from September 2006 onwards on the last Stones tour, that problem is going to be magnified if he's FRONTING a band instead of doing a couple of numbers each night.

Just because he's cut tracks with people doesn't mean there's an album together. That's the same as saying that the Stones have already been recording a new album when nobody knows anything about that.

Bjornulf seems to know ...he said they were recording, and booking venues for a tour.

Round and round it goes..

Usually I am not the optimist in these things but, one never knows. I thought Sean MacGowan was toast in the nineties, yet he continues to tour with the Pogues. Keith is not the frontman he once was, no doubt, but he could pull off a tour I bet, and anybody can do anything in the studio. With Keith, it is just too difficult to speculate. He must have some musical project in mind. Or maybe he'll just continue to collaborate with various random artists forever.

When have the Stones worked on a new album since A Bigger Bang? They've only been together for the release of Shine A Light and that was just standing around!

I remain very unconvinced about this myself. I woudnt doubt that individually Mick and hopefully Keith have been working on songs, but I havent seen or read anything to suggest that two or more of them have been in a studio together at any time. I certainly dont think Ronnie and Charlie have been doing anything like that, and Mick and Keith never seem to be on the same continent for long enough

Yeah well seeing that California is one rumble away from becoming an island in the Pacific, that doesn't count as being on the same continent!

It's been a long time, more than four years know, so my memories are not completely clear, but when they recorded ABB in Mick's castle in France, i got some informations from a guy in close contact with Mick and through the french message board with another one working at Tours Airport, near Pocé sur Cissé. So we knew pretty well who was there and when. And it seemed that they didn't spend that much time all together, like in a good old days. Which is now easy with those @#$%& computers.
It suggest me that they did it as a necessary job before touring and maybe just don't enjoy it anymore. We all know they couldn't tour again without a new record like they did in 2002/2003. But they are probably not enthousiastic about it and won't spend a lot of time for that. Just Mick and Keith first, then Charlie recording the drums in a few days, then Ronnie and Darryl. They even could do it without meeting each other.
