Did anyone catch the BB King / Buddy Guy package tour last year? They are going out again in February and I am curious if Buddy plays with BB for a couple songs or is it each performer does 75 minutes and splits ?

In 2001, I saw a blues festival in Knoxville, TN with both BB King & Buddy Guy. Both put on full shows. BB King has to sit for his performance -- but he still can make Lucille sing!!!

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

Saw both these guys play separately last year. I must say, if you have a choice between the two, definitely see Buddy Guy. I saw him as part of the Experience Hendrix shows with Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Hubert Sumlin, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Johnny Lang, Brad Whitford, etc... He was absolutely smoking. And his band is excellent. Buddy did a few numbers with Hubert, Whitford and Rosas and Hidalgo from Los Lobos. I was third row front and center. A wonderful night, and my ears are still paying for it.
On the other hand, I realize that the King is in his 80's, but he barely plays any more. Just a little noodling here and there. I was a little disappointed in his show. Also, his mic stand was setup too far away from his face, so you couldn't hear him very well for most of the show. You'd think that one of his people would have realized this and moved it for him.

I've seen BB pleanty of times and for me "the thrill is gone" for me seeing him perform these days. Buddy Guy is the main reason for going. I would hate to leave early and find out later that they played an encore together. Buddy usually leaves the venues as soon as he's done.

I rode with him last Spring for the trip back to the hotel and when the stage door flew open and being escorted to the car, his band was still playing.

One of these days I'll make one of those on-line photo albums and post performance and off-stage photos of Buddy.

I saw them play on the same bill in DC earlier this year. They did not play together.

Buddy Guy was absolutely feral! He walked out into the audience, all the way to the far back row. He sounded like he was playing with a knife instead of a guitar pick.

While I've enjoyed his shows in the past, BB King, at this point, is a charming old man who tells stories and occasionally plays guitar.
