Summary of rumours?
Posted by: Monkeytonkman ()

Just wondering if we could get a comprehensive collection of the rumours that are circulating about at the moment.

from what I can piece together so far:

1) Mick n keef have been recording stuff seperately for an album release
2) Tour announcement coming for gigs starting towards the end of the year
3) Tour will begin in Europe and followed by North America (in 2011)
4) The tour concept will be a new approach not utilised before or recently
arenas? in the round?)

Is that about right or have I totally missed the boat?

Lets get rockin'!!!!!

What I can piece together is that there are vague rumblings that Rolling Stones Inc (a "virtual corporation") will be reopening for business sometime next year .

None of the above are anything more than speculation (and most are possibly pure invention), and theres next to no chance of 2) coming true considering theres only 2 weeks of this year left.

well, its as believable as the rumour of a tour announcement by the end of 2009!

I would prefer month long "residencies" (15 shows or so) in 6 cities or so at 3000-5000 seat venues. Maximum 6 tickets per person for the entire month.

Rumours was a decent enough LP for its day
Are the Stones thinking of performing it?
Thats probably a rumour.

I'd love that too. An entire tour to a maximum of 450,000 people. Imagine the prices though. It'd be just as well we'd be limited to 6 shows!

Since this would be relatively cheap to do, they should really blow everyone away and just charge $20.00 a ticket. They could have their own website with ticket reservations. And you can only get the tickets at Will Call with your credit/debit card and matching ID, then you get a wrist band. 3000 tickets at an average of 2 per person = 1500 transactions, a transaction every 2 minutes would only require 25 Will Call stations over a 2 hour period.....

they'd never do it, of course...

....but, one can dream...

And NO opening act!

Holy crappola, totally true. hahaa. Here am I waiting for a possible announcement towards the end of 2010 and we're already there. Better lay off the heavy stuff man.

Ah well, that one definitely ain't true, so scratch that one.

Residences - not feeling that one at all - smacks of Las Vegas to me, not my bag man.

Keep on rockin, keep on rollin.

Is that a possibility being tossed around?

It's very simple. Charlie doesn't want a tour, keith doesn't want stadiums, ronnie is uninsurable and mick wants to wait til U2 are off the road. do the math.

Agree. I've done it, and it adds up to not a lot happening in 2010. It would be great if something DID, but I for one ain't gonna hold my breath. Personally, I think the entire RS machine at the moment is focused on getting various issues of the moment sorted out (and by that YES I do mean including getting RW into a sober, reliable and insurable condition) and otherwise looking a bit further ahead, that's to say to the big 50 (1962-2012). Hope I'm wrong, but that is by and large how I see it.

well we can just hope that they got energy back after the ABB tour and that they will hit the road one last time

Keith always 'doesnt want stadiums', says 'you can keep the money, pal' as it means nothing to him and talks up a new album as 'being made to be played on tour.

Yet he ends up playing hardly anything BUT stadiums, plays in a band which wont get out of bed unless theyre paid millions per show (and who hardly pay any tax due to some nifty offshore arrangements) and which barely touches their new material after theyve been on the road for a couple of months.

So much for that.

U2 will be in Europe by late summer, by which the time the Stones would probably be preparing for a tour in the US. There won't therefore be competition.

Charlie is usually persuaded.

Ronnie could well turn out to be the problem for the reasons youve stated, but if thats what DOES happen and they really want to tour, he's the only band member who is disposable as far as the others are concerned.

Only in my dreams...

Too true, the irony is not lost on me. So lets hope we'll all be witness to some form of redemption, whenever it is that they next step out. I'm hopin', I'm dreamin', but I ain't overly optimistic gotta say.

Atone for your sins boys ............ please please please please !! No more stadiums, limited warhorses, something different ...........................

there's a rumor that Keith and Ron are replacing by the two Paul McCartney's guitarists. Keith will be only on stage for backing vocals and Ron will be at the catering.

Ron is rumoured to have a liason with Keefs younger daughter.
