I would prefer month long "residencies" (15 shows or so) in 6 cities or so at 3000-5000 seat venues. Maximum 6 tickets per person for the entire month.

None of the above are anything more than speculation (and most are possibly pure invention), and theres next to no chance of 2) coming true considering theres only 2 weeks of this year left.

Since this would be relatively cheap to do, they should really blow everyone away and just charge $20.00 a ticket. They could have their own website with ticket reservations. And you can only get the tickets at Will Call with your credit/debit card and matching ID, then you get a wrist band. 3000 tickets at an average of 2 per person = 1500 transactions, a transaction every 2 minutes would only require 25 Will Call stations over a 2 hour period.....
they'd never do it, of course...
....but, one can dream...
And NO opening act!

It's very simple. Charlie doesn't want a tour, keith doesn't want stadiums, ronnie is uninsurable and mick wants to wait til U2 are off the road. do the math.

Is that a possibility being tossed around?

Keith always 'doesnt want stadiums', says 'you can keep the money, pal' as it means nothing to him and talks up a new album as 'being made to be played on tour.
Yet he ends up playing hardly anything BUT stadiums, plays in a band which wont get out of bed unless theyre paid millions per show (and who hardly pay any tax due to some nifty offshore arrangements) and which barely touches their new material after theyve been on the road for a couple of months.
So much for that.
U2 will be in Europe by late summer, by which the time the Stones would probably be preparing for a tour in the US. There won't therefore be competition.
Charlie is usually persuaded.
Ronnie could well turn out to be the problem for the reasons youve stated, but if thats what DOES happen and they really want to tour, he's the only band member who is disposable as far as the others are concerned.
