Yes and it's amazing - that would make him 18 when he first toure the States with Mayall - and I think it was that year too that he jammed with Hendrix backstage.

The first US Tour with Mayall was Jan 9th - Feb 10th 1968. So Taylor turned 19 during that tour.
The Winterland / Fillmore West gigs promoted by Bill Graham were part of this tour (1-4 February). Hendrix and the Bluesbreakers shared the bill with Albert King.

Prior to that MT had already met Jimi at gigs in London and spent some time with him. By the late 60s Taylor knew Hendrix well enough to use his place in Mayfair (Brook St) as a crashpad.

The pictures that Ethan Russell took backstage at Madison Square Garden are from 1969. November 27 of that year was Jimi's last birthday.

You can find some rare pics of Mick playing with John Mayall in Zurich, May 1968 here:

For the guitarists out there, note he's using a Rangemaster in to a Marshall.

Please kleermaker, you must know that IMDB is one of the most unreliable sources you can consult on the internet.
Mick Taylor was born 17 January 1949. So he started off his first US tour as a 18 year old lad and turned 19 a week into the tour. Really. Take it from those that are in the know.

It's not my only source: [www.stonesforum.nl]

Maybe this serious and interesting article will finally convince you, maybe not.

There are more reliable sources on the internet.

Great pics of the masters of the guitar: MT and JH (they played together in the dressing room, 1969 end of November. Who wouldn't love to hear that?

Will someone who lives near Hatfield please visit the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages and consult the records for January 1948 and 1949?!

but kleermaker - I think Gripweed has the info from the Horse's mouth.

perhaps the blues-horse himself (or his associate/manager) might chip in here?

but more important - to celebrate the Man's birth - and keep posting the photos!

"but more important - to celebrate the Man's birth - and keep posting the photos!"

Exactly, and to listen to his fantastic playing with the Stones. I just got 2 DVD's with MT yesterday and still have to see and hear it all. Will be a pleasure.

Nevertheless, I'll check it out further. Maybe his own website has some info. I'm gonna take a look there right nowsmiling smiley

If you look at the biography on the fansite carefully you will read this:

"Michael Kevin Taylor was born Jan. 17, 1949, in Welwyn Garden City, England. He grew up in Hatfield, a London suburb, and began playing guitar at age 9. Taylor became interested in joining a rock band after his parents took him to see Bill Haley & the Comets".

FYI, micktaylor.net is the only website that Taylor has any involvement with. All the other sources that you are referring to have their information wrong. Like I explained before, the mix up regarding MT's date of birth is widespread and goes a long way back (1969).

Just out of interest, when you say you have 'e-mailed the Man' himself, where did you write to ?

[www.micktaylor.net] [I found 1948 in that article]

As a result of my email (see my former post) the author of the article mentioned above has changed MT's year of birth into a question mark. Until now it's not certain what his year of birth exactly is. Maybe that author will try to find out the right year. Funny thing, isn't it?

PS: has anyone any more pics?

On Pg 1 of this thread, does anyone know the individual names of the Bluesbreakers pic? Because it looks like John Mc Vie, and a dude who played with Journey (?) later on.
