<The irony of Got LIVE If You Want It is...it's not live. It doesn't count in my world.>

Only two studio tracks, no?

Ha ha. I totally forgot about Shine A Light.

A lot of people seem to forget about this one. I am actually surprised how little a lot of people on here seem to like it. I think it's a pretty good live album. It has smoking versions of Satisfaction and Paint it Black that are better than the ones on Live Licks (IMO), plus great (not to mention first officially released) live versions of Connection, You Got the Silver, Some Girls, She Was Hot, etc. and also some great duets with Buddy Guy and Jack White.

I agree, beside my deep dislike of Connection´s version here.

Of course yaya´s ranking on top.The others I like ( some more, others less ),with the exception of Flashpoint, which doesn´t really rock,I think.

Although thread´s topic are official Live albums,I´d like to add the songs of
R´R circus.
That´s damned hot stuff !

YaYas, obviously, plus Got Live If You Want It (EP). The circulating Got Live EP outtakes (Down The Road Apiece, Everybody Needs Somebody To Love full version, Time Is On My Side) are so mouthwatering good that one can only imagine what an impact a full album of these 1965 live recordings would have had. Its not too late for a newly compiled 1965 live album, however, so far they always took the easy route by sticking to the ill-fated 1966 Got Live album and re-releasing it with new mixes.

Can someone upload these? Thanks

Highlights...

GYYYO! - The entire album.

Love You Live - eh, "the" El Mocambo side; HTWomen is exceptional.

Still Life - I like the energy. The duds are Shattered, Start Me Up, Satisfaction.

Flashpoint - Start Me Up and Factory Girl. The rest of it stinks.

No Security - All good but The Last Time and Respectable.

Live Licks - 2nd disc is worth it. 1st disc is just boring.

Shine A Light - Some Girls is good. Shattered is OK. Faraway Eyes. Keith's tunes are awful.

The only decent live album they ever put out was Ya-Ya's. I just wish they'd foreseen their spectacular decline & stopped releasing live albums after 1970.

I think if they released the lost 1972 album, the original IORR idea (A. live 1973 tour tracks B. studio covers) and one from 1978 the rankings of these albums would...change.

Ya-Ya's easily. The rest of the official releases are kind of disappointing to me they could all be SO MUCH BETTER!

If the Stones/ABKCO released 72, 73, 78 live albums now the response would be phenomenal.

Should I seek help?

This thread inspires me to make a tracklist for a compilation album of best live tracks.

Something like this:

01. Not Fade Away (Got live)
02. I'm alright (Got live)
03. Jumpin' Jack Flash (R'n'R Circus)
04. Love in vain (Ya Ya's)
05. Midnight Rambler (Ya Ya's)
06. Mannish Boy (Love you live)
07. Brown Sugar (Love you live)
08. Shattered (Still life)
09. Paint it Black (Flashpoint)
10. Like a Rolling Stone (Stripped)
11. Let it bleed (Stripped)
12. Gimme Shelter (No Security)
13. Out of control (No Security)
14. Worried about you (Live licks)
15. When the whip comes down (Live Licks Agreed: Sucking in the 70s)
16. All down the line (Shine a light)
17. She was hot (Shine a light)

Would be fun to listen to,

Under my thumb and let's spend on still life
Sympathy on ya-ya's.........................wow!

Re: best of their official LIVE-albums?

<15. When the whip comes down (Live Licks)>

I would definitely have chosen in the Sucking In The 70s version over the Live Licks version.

Honky Tonk Woman and Before They Make Me Run from the New barbarians live album

Re: best of their official LIVE-albums?

OK I'm glad to see I won't be the only one on here........

1. Stripped (with all the B-Sides)
2. Flashpoint (with all the B-Sides)
3. Ya-Ya's
4. Shine A Light - great LOUD in your face RnR from our boys!!
5. Live Licks Disc 2

The others I rarely listen to, esp. Love You Live, loathe that release. Still Life is too short and I never get the sense like I'm actually at a concert of theirs. Got Live, both the album and EP....I rarely go back so far to listen to that period of their history, honestly, unless I'm playing thru everything in chronological release, which isn't often. No Security had some great tracks, and it came out right after my obsession with the band really took off so I should like it more, but I don't really ever listen to it.......

Stripped would have been a million times better if they'd left off Wild Horses, I'm Free and Love In Vain had they put on all the live B-sides instead.

When The Whip Comes Down from Sucking In The Seventies blows away the Live Licks version easily. And the Live Licks Brown Sugar is the best sounding one of all the live albums - performance and sound - even if it does have a horrible intro edit and the outro is NOT edited. What a bunch of twats that edited that album.

Agreed about the Sucking in the 70s version of Whip. Made my original choice because the
thread was about live albums.
Still I think Brown Sugar from Love you live is a red hot smoking version! Highly recommended.

And yes, of course other selections could be made for a compilation of live tracks.
It is just my choice of the moment. No big deal.

Agreed on Brown Sugar and that ho-hum Whip from Live Licks. Myself I quite like Love in Vain and I'm Free off of Stripped though. I always thought that version of Wild Horses would have been better off as a b-side. Love and Free, to me, stand nicely w/their original counterparts, while NO version of Horses since the original can match up. That said, I do like Keith's reworking of it in open G.
